• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Seen them a few years ago at The Globe , Cardiff .

Remote Control and The Completion Backward Principle are still played regularly on my car journeys , most people still link them to White Punks on Dope though . Loves a Mystery must be my all time favourite song ,

The Completion Backward Principle is one of the greatest records of all time. Every single track is magnificent.

Rock, rock, rock, rock and metal, suppose it's an age thing, take Sabbath and diversify and that'll do me, I do enjoy some 60's stuff, guess my main favs would be

The Cult
Sabbath
Zep
Mission
AIC
Pearl Jam
ACDC
Motorhead
All that 70's rock metally stuff

I guess the list could be endless, love some punk, thrash, cant be doing with rap and the stuff thats around today, even though ain't got a clue about it, can't be arsed to find out about it, not that I'm knocking it, music is down to each individual and respect to the stuff I'm not into as someone will like it

I'm guessing you must mean Alun Vaughan from the Welsh spelling. He was the original bassist in Panic Room who are Swansea based. Their drummer is from Llanelli and their original guitarist is from Swansea, the superb Paul Davies, if anyone knows him. Keyboard player lives in Killay.

The Tubes definitely in my top 5 all time favourite bands. Saw them as often as I could in their late 70s/early 80s heyday and quite a few times since. Last couple of times were in Bilston in 2016 & 17 I think when I met a few of them on both occasions. Remote Control definitely my favourite but I have pretty much everything they've recorded plus DVDs.

My taste is primarily Rock/Metal (the usual suspects, AC/DC, Maiden, Zeppelin etc) but I'll give anything a chance if I'm in the mood.

Got a bit of everything on my phone from ABBA to ZZ Top via Dave Van Ronk, Tom Waits, Florence & The Machine, Muse, Clutch, Queen and shitloads in between.

I was reading the Van Halen autobiography and this song was mentioned,I hadn’t heard it for about forty years and forgot it existed.
Magnificent stuff. 🤘🏻

Alun also played with Mike Harries Root Doctors, this band always had Wales premier muso's. For those interested check out one of the greatest complete guitarists ive seen live Mr Hywel Maggs.

Is this the Alun you mean? 2nd from the right, pictured here with Panic Room in 2010. The guy on the far right is Paul Davies and I'd be surprised if there's a better guitarist in Swansea.

Yes, I know Alun through the Swansea Jazz Club. The guitarist I was referring to is Ian Simmons, he and his brother Steve(Sax) play there too, and they both raise a lot of money for charity at their gigs. Unfortunately, during these times , there are no gigs around so charity donations must be very low. Ian and Steve are both big Swans fans, see them at the Liberty (when we could go there) often.

Totally agree about Hywel, a leftie if I’m not mistaken.
