I'll let you know. 😁 I thought it was interesting that they'd decided to obtain the fingerprint and facial scan data on an evening outbound flight when the airport wasn't busy and nobody was in a rush. Maybe someone had thought about it. 👍
I haven’t seen it done on the return flight, and not even sure I have seen the facilities in place. There definitely wasn’t anything in Turin last night.

Interesting elephant in the room quote earlier..

Looking from Canada - I cannot believe that one of the major parties has not grasped the nettle and done a couple of things
1. Provided the dossier of evidence of the economic and social havoc caused by Brexit
2. Showcased the ongoing vulnerabilities of separating from the EU with global predator hegemons
3. Create a platform that if elected - a referendum would be immediately enacted to give the opportunity for the public to review and speak to their future destiny
4. Open negotiations with the EU and Nations like Canada, Mexico, Australia, Japan, South Korea etc. for closer alignment and reintegration into the civilized world that we turned our back on
Bizarrely Canada is now aligning with the EU - and as a dual National, it may be that I could become a citizen of the EU quicker as a Canadian than a Brit.
Truly Alice in Wonderland stuff

You are vastly over estimating the effectiveness and capability of the UK political scene.

We use the Channel Tunnel to travel to Spain & we have to do all the biometrics this side in Folkestone before we go in June. When we went in October last year all the terminals were installed ready to go.

There was a camera and a fingerprint scanner set up on the passport control booth counter top and the guy told me what to do while he was processing my passport. Took about 30-40 seconds then he stamped my passport and I was done. tbh, I hadn't even noticed the kit until he pointed at it and gave me instructions.

We went through Geneva last weekend. We duly filed through the area where the machines were: they were turned off. Person alongside us said that they’d been working when they passed through in February. I think that’s Geneva’s way of saying that on a winter Saturday they can’t cope with the numbers.

That said I believe there’s going to be a hard introduction from 9 April. No option to turn the machines off. So plenty more horror stories to come.

This will be an interesting test of whether things are joined up. I have been through three Italian airports this year and it wasn’t seamless (is the system even designed hold your data?).
Landed on time in Faro yesterday morning. Looked for the machines and there seemed to be about 6 or 7 operational but when I got to them, it looked like a big queue but there wasn't, most of the people near them were queueing for the usual passport booths so I asked several people if they were queueing for the egates and just walked past them if they said no and went straight through and had a choice of 3 or 4 machines when I got there. No trouble at all even though it was busy as it looked like 1 or 2 other flights had landed around the same time but they need a dedicated queue. Still had my passport stamped though which I though wouldn't have been necessary. Coming back, was approaching the passport booths along with everyone else and I spotted several machines showing green lights so diverted towards them and, again, worked perfectly. Couldn't understand why nobody was using them. Still got my passport stamped again! Full implementation deadline of the EES was originally April but I think it's been put back to October but if my experience yesterday is how it should all eventually work, bring it on.

I hadn’t heard about the extension to October, although I’m not surprised as it all feels a little bit random and inconsistent, even at this stage of March. Will report back from Sevilla on Sunday.
