• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

To be fair, no one could have predicted what would happen.
Thank god those responsible have taken full responsibility and had well thought out plans in place to mitigate the impacts. Otherwise as a country we’d be really fucked now.

Not sure where I read it but Brexit decision was the equivalent of having a voluntary leg amputation for no reason. Labour needs to grow a pair and say that they will open negotiations to rejoin.

The system checks that visitors from third countries (the UK) don't overstay the 90 days out of 180 days rule of the Schenzen zone

Flew into Stockholm earlier having regrettably missed the match and the passport entry queues at Arlanda Airport were very lengthy. Took 90 minutes to process a plane of 120 passengers, with 4 booths open.

Fingerprints, photos which are a new EU rule.

Load of bollocks from the EU. If you are going to illegally enter it is highly unlikely you will do so on a BA flight from Heathrow to Arlanda where the security at the British end is equally tight.

Ironically, there were two Eurocrats on the flight who were fast tracked through passport control so they didn't have to endure their ridiculous rules.
It was the UK Tory government under Cameron who lobbied the EU to bring the system in. The UK Tory government agreed to it and it was announced by the European Commission in April 2016. In June 2016 the UK Tory government held a reference to leave the EU. UK Tory government took the UK out with a hard Brexit deal leaving the EU and the two institutions the UK was in the Customs Union and Single Market. Therefore giving the UK Third country status. Third countries can only spend 90 out 180 days in Schengen and the new system checks the going in and leaving and is not just about illegal immigration. Blame the Tories not the EU.

I haven't really been following this, but we are travelling to Italy in late July and then France in late October. Are we likely to be adversely affected at the airports or anything we should do in advance of travelling?
If I understand it correctly (which is far from guaranteed), if you're on the system, ie your prints & facial scan, you should get through relatively quickly which is what I did at Faro on Wednesday because my prints & scan were done in December. The big delays are probably due to lots of people having to have their prints & scan done for the first time. So, you may have delays when entering Italy in July but if you get your biometrics done then, you should have no trouble getting into France in October. Everywhere is supposed to be operational on 10th April so unless where you are entering Italy has fucked up, the rules are that you have to have your biometrics done then and there. All I can add is "Good luck" 🤞🤞🤞

🚨 Seville Outbound Status 🚨

Two UK flights were filtering into one queue but we were one of the first ones there, 8 machines all of which were switched on. Neither of our passports would read in the scanner so we were filtered into another queue for another machine passport scan and the man in the booth. No fingerprints taken, both passports stamped. Total time: <5 mins.

Sounds like it could have been a lot worse. (y)

Or commit it as a manifesto pledge at the next election at least.

Wehave just got back from Gran Canaria. On arrival we were a bit lucky as probably the first non schengen flight of the day and we got to the first scanners quite quickly. Put our passport on machine and message to go straight to second passport gate. Probably because we did the machine in November. Bit slow going through the second machine but all in all fine. We could see the queue building up for the first machines though and also wondered why we had to go to the first machine if we have already done the biometrics in November.

Where did you go in Gran Canaria J, we been to GC stayed at Puerto Rico, it was at least 30yrs ago, we visited Port Mogan that's a stunning place, the bus ride over was hairy along the coast road though
Think that a lot of that road has collapsed into the sea now, there's a new inland route now apparently.

Stayed at Puerto Rico down by the Marina (if it was there 30 years ago) S. It is a much bigger place now with a brand new Shopping centre above the older Commercial Centre. Huge choice of places to eat and the Lager is 2 Euros a pint in loads of the bars. Weather was good apart from a few days of Storm Therese but even then it was sunny in between the rain. Yes, newish motorway basically from airport down past Maspalomas Puerto Rico and on to Port Mogan which is a lovely place. Not the prettiest of places but excellent for sun out of season.
