Next season

For me I think we're in a position where next season it will go one way or the other very quickly. We will either get the right players in and we'll click, or we will be stufck just above the relegation zone.

We've all seen what this system can do to teams when it comes off; but we haven't got the players to do that consistently.

We need wingbacks (both sides) that are dangerous going forward, whilst also able to do that other defending bit.

We need someone to keep Smith on the bench so he only comes on to hound players when we're protecting a lead.

And we need to get rid of Grimes. We absolutely need to get rid of Grimes.

Unfortunately I can't see us doing the last bit, which is why I'm less hopeful for next season at this point.

We'll never get out of this division with Grimes as our midfield general, unless we take a trip to League One.. he's basically conned and elevated himself in a position of invincibility since he got Northampton relegated to League Two.. one of the most baffling things to happen to us in recent times.. he's a huge problem with limited ability.. he's captain and won't be dropped ever.. can't wait until his contract expires, then we might get someone in who could actually get us promoted

I posted about this earlier, but if there were no point deductions this season, the massive difference would be that we'd move from 16th to 17th, 1 point behind Derby with 2 games in hand.

We're 19 points ahead of the relegation places and I'll give you one guess how far away we'd be if there were no point deductions.

Things don't look good, but this narrative about point deductions making a difference to our season is just wrong.

I don't mean we'd be in the relegation places but for a fair chunk of the season, probably up until the recent wins over Bristol City, West Brom & Coventry which changed things, it took a bit of the pressure off at a relatively early stage in the season and reduced the need to actually win games while we made the inevitable changes so we didn't become too panicky which might have made results even worse.

I didn’t watch today’s game. It was my littleuns bday party you see. Now then my afternoon turned out to be 30 3/4 year olds charging round a soft play area screaming at the top of their voices.

Bloody awful it was but then I noticed, in the corner of my eye, that the bar was open. Christ on a bike, soon as I broke the ice and ordered a pint the floodgates opened, all the mums and dads gagging for a swifty, twas like the video from piano man.

Anyway what I’m getting at is I could have been at home watching the swans, but then, that would have been shite as well, until the beer came out.

Grimes needs to be challenged to make him review how he plays. He's too comfortable being the player that Cooper moulded him into, challenge him and he will adjust as he does have the quality in there...somewhere.

Always though this with Grimes, he was great under Potter. Played with a lot of freedom, could spray the ball about etc. Under Cooper her just morphed into this must hold my position, get the ball pass two yards. We have seen this season hes got a pass in him. Think it was Blackburn for Obafemi and then last week a great through ball for Obafemi.

He's no captain and he's hardly going to turn that down so I can't blame the kid. Downes is twice the player in that holding role so I've always said I'd rather see grimes pushed forward.

what are we trying to do? Genuine Q because having watched all season i havent a clue

Total football. As exemplified by Barcelona 5 or 10 years ago, and more latterly Man City.
We're like the Poundshop version, except we're not even that good. The charity shop version.

It's your fault.
You came home to watch us and results improved.
You went back to Spain and left us floundering again !
