• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I generally applaud the more proactive stance taken by the Welsh Government compared to England.

There is a pesky fact though that before the Omicron surge Wales, for three months, had the highest case rates in the UK by far despite the extra regulations such as Covid passes to enter venues.

And many of the same people chucking them pelters will suddenly change their mind when England does the same thing in a week or so. Such as it ever was.

I’m not having a go at this decision I wasn’t going either but as things stand at the moment thousands of people can go to the panto in Swansea and all over Wales indoors on Boxing Day.
How does that make sense? It doesn’t.
It’s like passports,my wife and I went to the cinema a few weeks ago,we had to show a passport and there was six people in there.
Called in Costa on the way home there was over twenty people in there and you didn’t need a passport, how does that make sense?
Some said on Twitter just now that there’s another announcement later and they fully expect theatres to be shut but how does shutting down outdoor events before indoor events make sense?

I’m tempted to go and see Spider-Man today before they shut ‘em.

We went to see King Richard last week and could have been isolating because we had a private showing in effect. We were the only two there. We decided to rebel in our old age and slipped into the VIP seats after 5 minutes.

Good film.

They haven't shut outdoor events before indoor events though

Unless of course they shut theatres from 27th

Interesting to read the two huge differences in responses from both Facebook and Twitter for this article

The travel will change and stadiums in England will be shut by the end of the week as well IMO

I'm genuinely not sure what some of the people this morning on Twitter expected but this was going to be the only decision they can make - you simply cannot have tens of thousands of people mixing freely right now.

From a personal perspective I wouldn't have gone next week anyway and thats not a reflection of the people I sit next to .... ;)

May I ask you Phil....you say you wouldn't have gone cos it's safer not to ? But have you been to any supermarkets at all? Indoors/ hundreds at a time touching/coughing over everything. And that's indoors.....footy is outdoors.
Difference is Saint, we are not sat next to or in close vicinity of the same people for around two hours in shops etc.
However agree that contact is likely in a lot of other places.
Also totally understand your bitterness given your experience with your late wife.

So Swans fans free to travel to London where this variant is most prevalent but not to watch a home game, OK 🤔

All rules should be the same for the UK and not have differing positions. That aside Swans fans can think for themselves and question whether they should take the risk of travelling to a high risk area.
They would be except that from early on the government of Wales and Scotland have sensibly decided to take a firmer stance than that clown in Downing Street

So glad we live in Wales

Agree Darren, think all the rules need looking at.
Personally I agree with the decision, but agree need tightening in other sectors as well

But I thought that was part of the reason for the triple jabs and boosters so as to avoid another lock down. Ever get the feeling you've been had?

No not at all, but then I don’t listen to the tin foil brigade on Facebook.

Unfortunately Covid doesn’t recognise borders so a firmer stance in Wales hasn’t made any difference to cases, hospitalisations and deaths on the ground. The UK desperately needed a unified approach and, thanks to the clown in Downing Street it didn’t get it. We have no real borders in Great Britain so the intermingling of the population makes different measures in different places irrelevant to the ultimate outcome.
