I’m sure Calderwood is set to be official in the next two weeks

Why two weeks?

Maybe that’s when his contract runs out at Northampton or wherever he is. I don’t think we’ll see any movement until Downes or Piroe are gone though. We seen what happened in January with the owners not green lighting anything.

I wonder if the reported 'interest' in Obafemi from Brighton the other week is a sign that the club are turning their sights to flogging him as interest in Piroe cools?

As for Piroe wanting out because he doesn't want a contract extension, bit of a leap isn't it. He has two years remaining on his deal, why would he sign now? What would be the point? If he wants to stay, might as well wait until the autumn / end of the year or even next summer rather than make himself less attractive to offers this summer. It doesn't mean he wants out, it just means he's keeping his options open.

Disturbing silence on the transfer front

Until players go we won’t do anything, unless I’ve missed it the owners haven’t even signed off Colin Calderwood yet?

Downes and Piroe deals need to get done early, I reckon the formers will be.

The new season starts in just 7 weeks time, 30th July. If our owners are going to drag negotiations out in the hope of getting something close to our valuation for either of them before, as is the norm for us, eventually accepting considerably less in desperation, what happens? Do we go into the new season with exactly the same squad as last, less a few fringe players we've let go and no replacements for Downes or Piroe? Sounds great :x :x :x

Not ideal I agree, I've not seen much reported about other championship clubs either though so hopefully all in same boat.

So if everyone is in the same boat and starts with pretty much last season's squad, do we finish 15th again? I can't wait

That's how I read the Piroe situation. Why would he sign now unless it was significantly improved. Has he been quoted as wanting to leave? If so I've not seen it.

I'm starting from the assumption that we are totally screwed and will be lucky to even beat Cardiff. Everything then becomes a bonus.

Has anyone actually shown any real interest?

Leicester have never been interested.

No.

The ones who’ve been interested are us. Interested in making it as obvious as possible we want to sell him (even taking him off in the last game for no reason other than ‘protection’).

We will sell anybody at all that brings in some money. If we can we will sell Piroe, Downes and Obafemi.

Man Utd? Dutch manager. Who knows?

Could PSV afford him? Former club and Van Nistelrooy is manager who coached Piroe for the U21s.

We signed him off them didn't we?
