O’Brien & Darling

I just read it on here :

But just seen Capology.com who I think are more reliable have Franco as £8,500

£8500 sounds far more like what I would expect
Only a madman would offer 20k per week to a young player making a big jump up in leagues from the Portuguese 2nd division to the championship

Then again that may not have necessarily ruled it out of being a possibility considering our former owners and Coleman

Problem

Naughton will be on nowhere near what Pederson is on.

As for O'Brien, the way I see this playing out is he probably is enjoying his time here, playing football regular, man of the match regular and me making noises that he'd be keen to stay. But summers are long in football and bigger and richer clubs in the league will be in his and Nottingham Forest's ear. They'd more than likely want to sell aswell. Can't see anyway he ends up a Swans Player next season.
If he was 22 or 23, I'd agree with you but he'll be 27 in October so nobody will sign him as one for the future. He's at an age where he needs to be at a club where he is valued and can put in a solid 3 or 4 seasons as one of the main men in the team and not waste his career on someone's bench as a squad member. We can build a team around someone like him and if we could still have him and Franco in August, we have already shown that we could be a force this division next season especially if we add a 15+ goals striker to complete the jigsaw.

Apart from a 3 or 4 game wobble post Christmas Darling has been outstanding this season. A right footed Centre back who can play comfortably on the left side is not to be sniffed at. Threat at every set piece, scores goals, sprays glorious cross field balls for fun and gives 100% each game. Yes he has error in him but near enough every CB does these days. Add in his age and for me you have a CB who has the potential to be in a lower half Premiership team. While cabango is safe, Darling is the flair and together they are 👌 Clubs are built on a strong spine and for me at 25k I think he's worth it.

that was going to be my reply - frank lampard and matthew rush were pretty decent

Going back to the early 90s, Joey Beauchamp was utter class when he came here, albeit briefly. That was the benchmark for loan players for quite a while IMO. RIP Joey.

LOB certainly sounded like he'd be very open to being here next season in the press conference earlier, but there are probably going to be a line of Championship clubs queuing up for his services, and it's fair to assume a decent amount of those will be able to offer more money, so I still think it's a long-shot unless we can get creative with the financing (and not handicap our other recruiting needs).

Evening Mrs Darling.

If as was reported yesterday that he would be willing to stay if we can find the right deal… we need to do it.

At the moment. We need to pay O’Brien and Darling what it takes to keep them.

This current squad isn’t far off challenging for play offs - we should be building around this team with Widdell coming in.

A couple more additions and we’d be a real force to be reckoned with.

We can’t tear this team up again.
The thing about LOB is that he'll be 27 in October so he's no up and coming starlet that Prem clubs are likely to be sniffing around as one for the future. He's rumoured to be on £50K per week at Forest but it's unlikely he'd command that if he leaves Forest in the summer and if he stays in the Championship, he may have to take 35. So assuming we've saved 25 on Grimes, that's not really too much of a stretch especially if we get rid of deadwood too. He may get interest from the 3 promoted clubs who have seen him first hand though but if they don't show any interest, we could be in with a shout as he's clearly enjoying his football here as well as being the star man.
Class like O'Brien costs, so does a striker who can put in as many as Piroe, our current crop might include 3 or 4 we consider should be put available for right offer such is the low return they provide in goals. Our 2 CBs are more of a goal threat. Darling has I believe actually won more headers than anyone else in the championship this season.

Sigi yes, forgot he was once on Loan here, can't remember Johnson to be honest, that Winger we had from the North Paul somin he was decent, but O'Brien for me has been immense since he's been here, he's helped massively to pull us out of the shit which was looking daunting thanks to he who shan't be mentioned.
Jordi Gomez from Barca?
