What went wrong there then , must have driven to close to the kerb

Luckily no one seriously injured by all accounts, could have been a lot worse, not good, all round.
Health and safety will be all over this incident, and rightly so.

What the fuck is wrong with double decker drivers in Swansea? One of two things need to happen now,

1. Retrain all double decker bus drivers in Swansea
2. Pull all double deck busses from the fleet.

I was about 50 yards away when it happened. Mrs Partz and the grandkids were with me. A horrible crunch then loads of shrieking and screaming.
Never seen so many emergency services once they got though the traffic. 3 fire engines, 6 police cars. 2 ambulances, 3 paramedics and the air ambulance.
Great news that no life changing or threatening injuries occurred. I do worry for the poor soul that was airlifted to the Heath neurology dept. though. That does sound serious.
How the hell did it happen? The driver too near the kerb? He should be able to scuff it without taking the roof off. Sadly I fear cuts to LA services have contributed here. Tree maintenance seems to be like drainage maintenance. Reaction only as the staff are no longer there to do the planned stuff.
Serous questions will be asked though of both the LA and First Cymru.....

Surely that cannot be anything other than driver error?

Hope everyone is OK

Maybe driver had the sun in his eyes.

They cut all the trees back in Wind St.

That road has been an accident waiting to happen for ages in my opinion, lot of car's and bikes all driving riding to fast, nobody willing to give way or wait even when the lane heading towards pier has the right of way, some just come through forcing people close to curb.

We regularly have double deckers on the valley route and they often clatter over hanging trees but for it to cause this damage is shocking. Best wishes to anyone hurt.

Cut all trees that are overhanging into the road. The roads are narrow enough as it is for double decker buses and hgv lorries to pass each other without having these obstacles placed in their path.

Same all over the country. Driving a motorhome around, half the signs are obscured and far too often overgrown trees and bushes are protruding into the road.
Anyway hope everyone is okay

Cant agree with the first bit. There will be different drivers on the route. If there is a tree hazard that can take the roof off a bus then it should be addressed before the route is set up. You want the driver looking at the road ahead not up in the sky every time he passes a tree.
On top of this we have massive driver shortages with routes being cancelled right, left and centre. Even less likelihood of continuity.
I would only blame the driver if he mounted a kerb. Even then you have to allow for errors by other road users.
I hope the resultant enquiry is fair and detailed.

It'll be the police that investigate this, not the HSE.
