I was expecting to threaten the playoffs tbh

With a turnover of 28-30 players and a load of foreign imports? No chance. We have a mid table budget and have to work extremely hard to outperform that, but no way should it be expected.

The starting 11 yesterday apart from galbraith who is being banded about on here as being a £20m pound man and burgess all played for us last season all have alot of championship experience

That’s my point. We had the likes of Cullen and Fulton playing because the signings like Melker and Stamenic are still getting used to the schedule of English football. It will take some time for us to “expect” to beat the top 6 away from home. At the moment we have no right to expect it. It’s a journey.

We’ve been the better team in the majority of the away games under Matos.

Again yesterday we had enough opportunities to win the game twice - the xg shows this too.

But for some reason we’re missing easy chances away from home whilst we’re finishing them off at home.

It’ll come … but I’m enjoying the ride and the performances

We failed to win around 50% of our games when we were promoted under Brendan.

I can never understand the meltdown whenever it happens. It’s like our fanbase started watching football this season.
Remember us losing the first 4/5 away games and only just hanging on to win at Watford (after battering them for 60mins) to get his first away points.

Unless you’re aiming for 90+ points then any away point in the EFL is a good one. It’s been disappointing not to have picked up more away draws since Matos came in but it’s very small margins and the signs in away performances are good overall.

The reality is 10 points from every 6 matches (as Frank Burrows used to say) will get you to the top 6 and that involves losing 1/3 of your matches.

Everyone hates losing and constructive criticism is good but overreactions do my head in! One of the main reasons I gave up on Twitter.

There is an interesting fact mentioned in an article in the BBC about our XG in an away games since VM took charge being higher than our opponents. Now, i know that XG is BS but you can see that all the parameters have been improved.
As i wrote n the game match thread, we lost the games yesterday due to uncharacteristic errors from two of our more solid performers. The team is playing better every game and i have a feeling that we are about to explode - in a good way.

I wonder if Matos knows our away form isn't good 🤔. He should read this Forum, they'll tell him 😊

Seriously guys, he knows the score, of course he does, and will be working bloody hard with the players to get over the line in away matches. However, there's only so much he can do 1. with the players he has (and he is steadily improving several). 2. with the aberrations of Cabango and Vip yesterday 3. without new input( which again he's addressing eg Nunes)

The key thing is that performances and culture are changing under him, like others I feel the results will come.

In Vitor we trust I say.

Couldn't believe Bango was totally stupid to jump with the intention of handling the ball yesterday.
Said penalty before the ref blew the whistle. Knew it was a blue shirt, but didn't know who until the replay.
Lucky I think that we didn't have VAR, as I have it as deliberate handball and a red
You can't coach stupidity out of people, whether it's Vitor, Klopp, Guardiola, Arteta. Doesn't matter.
VP had a really off day yesterday. May have come at the right time to put other clubs off going for him in this window.

I'm probably going to get slated for my opinion. Joys of discussion I s'pose
I am worried that Bango seems to be going backwards in his game, not just yesterday, but quite a few recently.
He looks sluggish in thought and actions
Is the captain's armband and responsibility weighing him down?
Possibly make him the club captain and find a playing captain within the team.

Football is so much better with Vitor
This turnaround is reminding me of the work the Tapas waiter did when he came back as a player manager.
I'm actually enjoying the football again.
We outclassed Hull yesterday, especially in the 2nd half. Just wish VP had been firing on all cylinders yesterday.
We're making the chances, something we didn't always do un the Russy Boy or Duff.
Plus Grimes to keeper to right back to Grimes back to keeper was less fun than watching paint dry
Still reckon Shee's was undone by bringing O' Dear here. Looked like he wanted the job and was undermining Shee's at every opportunity. Guess we'll never know

We've had easy games at home since Matos took over and generally hard games away, so no surprise that we've done a lot better at home than away.

Our performances are better, and more enjoyable to watch, but generally we're still beating the shit teams and losing to the decent ones.

Average position of wins - Sheehan 20.75 (4 wins), Matos 19.00 (6 wins)
Average position of draws - Sheehan 10.00 (5 draws), Matos 13.00 (1 draw)
Average position of defeats - Sheehan 8.83 (6 defeats), Matos 8.33 (6 defeats)

How could it be a Red Card ?
Did he prevent a goal scoring opportunity .

Cabango for me has a consistent season so far , in previous seasons him and Darling tended to lose concentration .
Only a last month we were saluting him for having Keiffer Moore in his pocket .
Looks as if he and Burgess kept McBurnie quiet .
Going forward Cabango & Burgess are not the ideal partnership a quicker ball playing centre would be better .

What we saw yesterday was a bunch of exhausted players who need a break. First amomg them were Cabango and Galbraith (who should have been left at home to recover). Canango needs a week or two to recharge - but we just don’t have the ready made stand in.

2 Hull players behind Bango waiting for the ball to drop, is why it is a possible red.
Seen them given by VAR for a lot softer.
Bango just looks tired to me. Has done a lot of miles so far this season
Has been pretty consistent this season. Was really being dragged around the park, when Key let his standard slip for most of the season so far.

Away results have been poor but performances have not. That’s what we’ve got to focus on. If we were getting trampled away in most games then we’d have a worry but most of our recent ones under Matos have been close score lines and we’ve failed to take advantage when on top of the play. We’re creating chances and our luck will eventually turn.

We look difficult to beat at home, I'm sure with a bit of luck and the odd tweak here and there to instill some confidence on the road, the results will pick up.

Then we can all go back to moaning about how shit the beer is at half time and people leaving early.
The problem is as most teams, either your home record is good or away is bad or vis versa. Only those who have both of course are contenders at the top. Yes we need a away win. And sooner the better, but no panic in my mind. It will pick up soon and I'm sure then we will start to lose at home and the same will be said.

Is there a perfectly said emoji 👏👏👏👏🏆🏆
