You are 3-2 down in the FA Cup 3rd Round against a side down to ten men for almost an hour and a half.

You are pressing (as much as you do when you are not a pressing side!)

The ball is played into Fulton in the box in space. His first instinct is to pass it backwards 10/15yards. Had he turned he would have seen a clear sight on goal and the chance to either shoot or lay the ball across the area. This isn't critical of Fulton most of our team would have done the same thing?

A few minutes later we have a corner. Most teams now would send their keeper up to try and create an equaliser. Not us we take a short corner and from the return ball to the corner taker he is offside. There was nothing logical in taking a short corner and being offside from it is unforgiveable.

A negative team playing largely negative football.

As I've posted elsewhere at that stage it was just frustrated ironic laughter.

I remember the Fulton one. I just bellowed with rage. And as for the short corners, I’d already wanted to poke my own eyes out long before on those. The last one, I simply stared at with no reaction at all. My missus just said “cup of tea?”.

Considering there are a few old heads in the team the corner decision was woeful. We turned a direct attacking dead ball into an offside infringement. Shocking. The old heads should have been shouting “all up 99”.
