• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

When you consider this match was rain affected, but still only lasted 4 days, shorter test are inevitable.

And it gives me no pleasure saying so at all

When you look at he the playing conditions though four day games are about 40 overs shorter than five day games. It’s not a huge difference, although I’d rather keep them at five.

We'll never see the likes of Boycott and Tavare opening the batting again, they would have taken up two days on their own

Relatively late to test cricket but by God it's an emotional rollercoaster.

If they do move to four day tests, they should always have the option of a fifth if you lose a whole day's play to weather, or slightly less, 80 overs maybe.

Brilliant chase fair play. Can't see Pakistan coming back from that, tho glad to wipe the smirk off Wasim Akram as before play he said with a smile that a 260 lead more than enough.

A good few years ago Test cricket used to start on a Thursday and run until the following Tuesday, with the Sunday being a "rest day".

Many times you would lose a day's cricket on the first three days, but the authorities would not listen to calls for the Sunday to be used as a "reserve day"

Thankfully things have changed and the ICC are more flexible

Are they? The directives they've given re light seem to be rigid and not really reasonable.

Driven by H&S no doubt

Great Test Match ... But p1ss poor, and negative captaincy from the Pakistani captain, especially when Buttler came in to bat. His field placing looked as though he was trying to save the Test match, not fvcking win it.

His negative demeanour behind the stumps didn't help his bowlers either.

Great innings from Woakes and Buttler.

This ^^

And he went with spin for too long imho, Butler and Wokes started picking the spinners off at will, and Azhar Ali just stood and let the opportunity slip through his grasp

Crikey, this has given me a memory jogger from my early years; summer holidays spent watching cricket on BBC1 and then getting annoyed that they didn’t play on a Sunday. The other annoyance was the cricket getting interrupted by Wimbledon.

Re four day Tests: I read a stat somewhere that said that in the last ten years 51% of matches have gone into a fifth day. That’s considerably higher than I imagined.

It’s also not strictly a case of cutting out 90 overs from the game as the remaining four days are extended to a minimum of 98 overs.

Ben Stokes to miss the remainder of the series due to "family reasons", and flying out to New Zealand to be with his parents.

His father wasn't very well a few months ago so perhaps that's the reason, when family fall ill it makes you realise what's important in life 🙏

I hope it's a ruse because he actually injured himself in that bowling spell and his family is all ok.

Big blow losing Stokes. The team is unbalanced without him and he always comes good at the big moments.

Step up Jonny B 👨‍🦰

At least he can add some grunt to the middle order.
