Pele RIP

Imagine what he could have done on a modern pitch, wearing modern boots kicking a modern ball.
The Greatest 🇧🇷

Back in 2000 Amy won the Child of Achievement Awards at the Hilton on Park Lane.
Part of the prize was a £1000 voucher for Airtours.
She wasn’t in the best of health to travel far so I suggested they keep it and give to someone else, they wouldn’t agree to that and said they were going to send her the cash, they did and we spent it to go on the tour of Ireland with the Swans.
We went to all three games,Waterford,Cobh Ramblers (Roy Keane’s team) and Cork City.
Cork City was the last game and when my wife, myself and two children arrived at the ground John Hollins came over to us and asked if I had the car with me,I didn’t I’d left it at the hotel.
He then asked me if I’d be able to get on the team coach after the game to go to the pub with him,Alan Curtis and the squad?
There was no way I was saying no,anyway we got to the pub and we were having a drink with Matt Bound,Jonathan Coates and KOL and we were talking about the greatest players like George Best,Johan Cruyff etc when John Hollins overheard the conversation and came over and said Pelé, Pelé is the greatest.
He then went on to tell us he’d played against Pelé in an exhibition game in Kingston,Jamaica in 1971 for Chelsea against Santos,he said that what he saw Pelé doing on a cabbage patch of a pitch was utterly magical, not that he saw much of him during the game, his words.

He then said that after the game he joined the end of a queue that was already around half a mile long just to get an autograph off Pelé for his son Chris.

Sad, sad news, one the greats. If not the greatest.
RIP Pele.

RIP. The greatest for me. So far ahead of his time
Terribly sad news
