Came across this on YT, and I have to say it's not a bad watch. I know some will laugh it off, but a lot of what this guy is saying is bang on. Discuss.

In my experience the real world and the internet world is increasingly dissimilar

Exhibit A: Mrs Browns Boy. I've never seen a single person on the internet admit to liking it.... yet year after year after feckin year we're given Christmas specials and new series. Some fucker must be watching it!?

Theory: People do like it, and do watch it, they just don't admit to it because they fear being perceived or judged a certain way by fellow internetters

Another one. In my experience the world is much, much more "to the right" than the internet would make you believe. Daily I'm hearing comments from people that would have you ostracised if they were to be expressed on the interweb

I don't know where on the Internet you hang out other than here, but the vast majority of people online that I see are pretty far to the right. Plenty of people will say extreme shit online that they wouldn't dare say in public because they know there are more likely to be repercussions. See the racist abuse commonly given to footballers online with zero consequences against the fan who allegedly racially abused Semenyo in person.

The only other place I frequent is Reddit, which may be the reason as it's heavily left leaning - you'll find all walks of life on there if you dig deep enough but the vast majority is so far to the left its sickly

I can honestly say I don't think I've ever come across racist abuse of footballers online, I'm guessing that's limited to Twitter and Facebook as I don't bother with either. I have seen and heard it a number of times in the flesh though, sadly when following our club

The amount of people in the real world though that I've heard express some pretty extreme views in the last few years has shocked me. It does everytime, and it's on the rise. Mainly strangers, too, who think nothing of throwing in some casual racism or their opinions on the boat people etc. It seems to me people are getting fed up (I'm not entirely sure what of tbh, but it seems migrants are often the chosen target) and have a rediscovered confidence in speaking their minds, which tallys with the rise of Reform and the popularity of Stevie Y-T

I don’t believe that half the fuckers on here believe what they’re saying themselves.
Example? Or is it just a case of people think differently to you so the6 can’t possibly believe what they’re saying?

I said a couple of years ago that I’d never heard racism at our stadium.
Lisa asked me if I’d the SHAP song and I conceded and said I had but other than that I haven’t.

That’s an excellent point amd one I’ve made myself in a different way. It’s now acceptable, mainstream, to couch concerns about immigration and other things, including integration, in overtly racist language. I’d suggest most of these people always held these views but now they feel able to express them. Whether anyone likes it or not, the rot started with the Brexit referendum and it’s only got worse from there.
