There surely has to be some kind of amnesty period for how long someone can be held accountable for stupid shit they posted online when they were like 14 and didn't have the sense to know better.
I remember back like 28 or so years ago when I was 11 and at a youth club, impressionable minds picked up on calling black people by the N word. An older best friend soon enough set me straight on just how terrible it was and I never did it again, but there is so much difference nowadays between when that kind of thing used to happen in private versus the very public world of social media now.
Personally I feel that social media is the devil but unfortunately is indispensable for keeping in touch with some people these days. However the stories of people who are getting lives and careers ruined for something dumb they did like 10+ years ago before they grew up mentally is completely unfair in my opinion.
