Piroe not wanting to enter into new talks

In fairness this time round, the club have said they are open to talks with the player, the player's agent has knocked us back.
If we had made a derisory offer, no offer or were selling against the player's will, then I can understand blaming the club.
In this instance, seems to me the player is the one pushing for the move, so club has a choice to either cash in or take a chance on getting more for another good or better season and possible promotion.
Also an unsettled player in the ranks isn't the best ?

The time to try to improve his deal was when his stock was rising but before he became a hot commodity.
It was obvious to most in September/October that we had a real gem on our hands and we should have tried to offer him an improved deal with improved wages then.

Maybe, but same could be said of Patterson at the time, yet he hasn't been all we hoped at that time ?
So may have been a gamble ?
Too late now anyway

We cannot afford not to sell Piroe. Our current financial model requires us to do this every season. Enormous pressure on both the scouting team and the youth coaches to find the next diamond.

He holds all the cards and it's not an option to hold him to his contact...

The club can hold him to his contract, but invariably the never works out well and clubs usually end up with a disgruntled and unsettled player on their books. If he wants out, then move him on for the right price. Let’s hope there are a couple of interested clubs out there.

As I said earlier in the thread, the fee for Ollie Watkins from Brentford to Villa should be our benchmark. At similar ages and with similar goal records the only difference is one is English and the other is Dutch.
