• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Anyone thinking we can do it? Looking back over the last five years, the highest no of points to get 6th was 77 and the lowest was 68 last season. So I’d say 72 points minimum.
27 points from our remaining 13 games isn’t out of the question.
If only we sorted out our away form.

I don't believe so.
Despite the league being very poor this season, we have very poor quality in the final 3rd which is inevitably going to cost us in the most open championship for a number of years.

We've got a pretty tough run in and our away form is poor so no.
Only Sheffield Wednesday have scored fewer away goals than us.
We're enormously improved under Matos and it looks so much better for next season. If the commercial deals are as good as some people are suggesting we could maybe keep one of Vip or Galbraith and with the right signings who knows?

Anything can happen but very unlikely.

We have to play Ipswich, Coventry, Boro.

Add Wrexham away

That brings us down to 9 games.

To get close to 72 points would be more than exceptional.

Only if we get Cooperesque levels of utter spawn, and I can’t see that ever happening again.

Just concentrate on winning each match. Do that, we’ll be there. Might sneak auto 🤭

I don’t think it’s the points. I think it’s the number of teams above us.

They’ll all be playing each other every week so at least half will be picking up points. We’d have to hope for a huge number of draws. We’ve picked up a lot of points in the past 10 or 12 games and still remain in the bottom half because of this.

And that’s assuming anyway we pick up 2 points per game. Which is a heck of an ask given our away form which is not great. Even under Matos.

Like Matos said in one of his press conferences “There’s no tax on dreaming”. That said it’s an extremely tough ask and I won’t be disappointed in not making it. I’m already over the moon with how much we’ve improved and how fun we’ve been to watch at home.

Mid 60s points and somewhere between 9th and 14th IMO. Top 10 will be a very good achievement from where we were - points wise and the eye test - before Xmas.

Been thinking about this by the way and not certain I’d like to make the playoffs. I mean it would be exciting and we’d all be thrilled to do it again but honestly, the thought of getting absolutely humped week in week out next season would be dire.

Brilliant for money for the club but totally depressing as a fan.

Last time round, we had a real way of playing , a settled team and some genuinely talented players to add to.

This time we’d be facing such an uphill battle and need almost an entirely new team. I mean it can be done I guess, but it’s a ridiculously difficult ask. And looking at Luton, the money added through parachute payments doesn’t guarantee the next season would be better.

I’d prefer it if we developed a much stronger base before getting up again.

Maybe that’s just me though.

No not for me. I'd be happy if we can beat last seasons points tally of 61 though. Even then 17 points in 13 games is a tough ask.
