• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I just caught up on today’s games and saw a reporter after the Spurs game ask Conte if he was concerned with only having 40% possession after winning 3-0.
What a joke.
Fúcking idiot.

Was he concerned?

I watched the ladies FA Cup Final on BBC1 (main channel and 40k fans at wembley, brilliant how it's growing) and Chelski absolutely slaughtered the Gooners. Could have been 6 or 7. Arsenal hardly had a look in or real sight of goal. Chelsea possession...36%.

It's what you do when you have the ball that counts. Any passing Laudrup could tell you that.

Really don't understand why so many of today's modern managers are obsessed with possession based football. It is great if you can play a passing game provided you have won the game. It really doesn't matter whether you have 30 , 50 or 80 per cent possession as long as you have won. A lot of teams just pass pass pass for the sake of it.

Possession is not as important as what you do with it. We had possession last Saturday on the edge of the M'boro penalty area, and we still had possession when we passed it back to our keeper. Total achievement? Nil.

Possession football is for teams that cannot defend.... Like us.

Good answer. Wasn’t that Brendan’s approach in his tenure with us ?

Sam Allardyce used to say his teams said we were great to watch from the half way line.

In Downes, Grimes, Smith and Fulton we have technically gifted defensive midfielders.

They are being asked to play close to defence in deep positions.

At times we play suicidal passes that teams are are going to intercept.

I preferred the way Brandon Cooper played against Bristol City and was dissapointed with the manager's comments after this game.

Martin has set out his stall and we do look good at times.

It is what it is.

Yeah, he used to explain the benefits of that approach really well. If you can do it it's great, as you can completely control the game and not let the opposition get a look in (see us taking it to the big teams under Brendan, or Barcelona at their prime for the ultimate example). You've obviously got to make it count and do the right stuff when you haven't got possession though.

When was the last time , if ever, Fulton was asked to do that under Russell ?

Grimes and technically gifted,in the same sentence. Wow. Genuinely surprised.

When was the last time our ' should never be a captain ' showing his technical ability? I have seen more attacking country line dancing, than Grimes. Really.

With his new contract, any hope of promotion is GONE.
