I think you're right on Starmer. However, I can't see Hamas standing aside especially rightly or wrongly they command a huge vote of support in Palestine still. Palestine have legal rights now so can exercise what they feel benefits their region.

It all has to be seen through a much wider geopolitical lens than simply recognition of one state. Three quarters of the world now recognise Palestine.

As for the Hamas Embassy stuff, firstly Starmer, Macron and all the others have said that the6 will not accept a Hamas leadership of Gaza (remember that the other part of Palestine, the West Bank, is not under Hamas rule), secondly, there are all sorts of rogue governments that have or have had embassies here. How does Starmer,Macron and all the others know that there won’t be any Hamas supporters in the Embassy then?
In the same way they know exactly what’s going on in the Chinese Embassy like.
