Radio Wales after the game

The point I was making the quality of the squad is much better now.
Players who left in the summer .
Allen
Naughton
Christie
McClaughlin
Ginnelly
Biachini out on loan .

You missed Inoussa with Widdell & Walta who I'm sure will improve us next season after their first experience of Championship football .

Vipotnik is a completely different player this season to last. Different manager, different style of playing changes everything.
Some players also take much longer than others to settle in a different environment. This is why we should give Walta plenty of game time for the remainder of the season. We can't go up or down so looking at the players with a view to next season and giving them exposure now can only be helpful for decision making going forward. Failing to do so would be poor judgment in my view.

But what there is now is the long term stability and assets to build from. Darling was out of contract, Allen retiring and O'Brien an expensive short term loan. As opposed to Burgess, and particularly Galbraith and Stamenic who are valuable assets ties down to lengthy contracts. And that's without the likes of Widell & Walta who hopefully will shine next seaseason.
Think the term liabilities is better suited.

It's harder to get rid of a player when they are on a longer contract as I'm sure we'll find out with Burgess, Santos, Bianchini and many others this summer.

I've seen nothing to suggest that the 17 million we spent on Inoussa, Widell, Walta and Idah will be anything more then bit part players on very long contracts who we will have no doubt one eye on trying to recoup our money.

Whatever might have been reported in the press I just can’t see any way we’d have spent over 80% of our annual turnover on 4 transfer fees.

Yeah, I don't quite get why anyone would be judging the signing of Walta so harshly already.

I do understand he's been with us for nearly 2 months now, but he's coming from a league with a completely different schedule. His season would have ended in early November and their league hasn't even yet resumed.

I do also think that it's easy to gloss over the fact that the Championship is an extremely physically demanding league. We have to give players coming from abroad time to adjust, especially if their calendars aren't aligned with ours. While Vipotnik's calendar matched ours, he's a prime example of players from abroad needing time to adjust.

Widell seemed a bit out of his depth at first, but I do see signs that there's quite a player there. Inoussa has just been hurt too much to judge. And Walta is still too early to say.

More than happy to give players time and we shouldn’t really be judging those 3 signings until next season at the earliest, but we really could do with at least one of them hitting the ground running in August - particularly in terms of goals and assists.

Vipotinik was a free transfer these guys have all cost anywhere from 3-6million there simply HAS to be more expectation on them for that.

We're going into April and we haven't even seen 1 league goal from 11million quid worth of players that we brought (Widell, Inoussa, Walta).

To put into context Idah (probably our most criticised signing from fans) has at least scored 3 goals in half the amount of game time.
