Fascinating, proposed cash injection of £10m which is a fair chunk more than Silverstein put in if memory serves.

How much of that we would actually see and if it would allow us to remain competitive next season when the likely teams to be relegated are Southampton, Everton and Leicester based on current form remains to be seen.

If they are buying shares in issue from the current owners, none of it, as it wont be a capital investment in the club. If it’s new shares, then all of it, but most will probably go in keeping us afloat if we don’t sell a few. To think we could ever compete financially with parachute clubs is nuts, unless they are as woefully mismanaged as we were. Evo could be in a bit of trouble if they finally fall.

The trust is now a non-entity anyway so them getting diluted further means nothing (although I feel sorry for the people who have worked hard over the years that established it) so this cash injection can't be a bad thing.

But what's the plan? The figures being spoken of won't even cover our annual shortfall, let alone buying players that would make us capable of a real promotion push.

Aren't we just going to need another investor next summer unless there are material changes in how the club is being run?

Or big player sales.

The other website puts our player salary at about £250k a month (roughly £3m a year) without accounting for other running costs (stadium, non player staff, etc)

I also agree that trying to compete financially with parachute clubs is madness and I don't endorse that for even a second. My point was that many of those sides coming down have some serious financial clout anyway even without parachute payments and if even one of them manages to more or less keep their squad together then they should have the quality to bounce straight back up.

Yes which depends on good recruitment to replace the outgoings. Piroe we aren't going to get as much as we'd like to for, 7 Mill max this summer?

Beyond that Wood? Cooper?

Yes the championship next season will surely be stronger than this.

Maybe this is just a guy thinking about buying the club who's dipping his toe in the water and is not really some master plan from the current owners to bring investment and stability to the club, although the club getting some cash is a byproduct of it?

Don't get me wrong there will be vultures aplenty circling over the likes of Leicester for Maddison, Everton for Callum Wilson and Calvert Lewin, etc

Many of that Leicester squad will be on proper wages too, mad that it was only a few years ago they won the league.

Nobody sensible would ‘invest’ just to pay running costs of a declining asset. They’ll all want a return somehow.

We’re running out of options there though. I can’t see where the next Rodon or Downes comes from. A big task ahead for recruitment teams and academy management - the need to unearth a gem or two is now apparent more than ever.

We’re assuming that the right level of due diligence has been done here.

That’s why it’s important to get players like Iwan Morgan and Ben Lloyd tied down, the latter has to be fair.

Wood will make us good money, as will darling in the long run.

Yes of course.

But is 10mill and and an overly cautious and obstructive decision likely bring anything that would provide that return (ie promotion)?
