Relegation? Should We Be Worried?

I do not think we will get relegated but I am also slightly worried about how bad things could get. Early in the season under Sheehan I thought he was not the man long term but would usher us to a safe and sightly dull midtable finish. That was partly because of my expectations for the signings, which is dissipating by the week. Now we have a complete unknown in charge and so that is equally exciting and terrifying. He might be the next great coach and we could be looking at the play-offs by February or he could be miles off the standard and we could be looking for a third manager of the season.

It would not shock me if Norwich and Sheffield United have a surge at some point but hopefully Portsmouth and Oxford are weak enough to stay below us and QPR could plummet too. There may not be many great teams in the league this season but there are also very few in complete crisis which would make me more confident.

I think we could get relegated easily. We’re in freefall and I’ve seen nothing to suggest we’ve got the right tools to dig ourselves out of this hole. The club has been rotten for a while but it’s been glossed over by gazillionaire owners, celebs and a lunatic pulling the strings in recruitment, allegedly. Under the current model we’re fucked.

I’m leaning toward agreeing with you, we seem to have bought a raffle ticket in the hope that we win the jackpot.

After what I saw today, we should be very worried. We are incredibly slack in defence, and totally crap in attack. Our crossing, shooting and dead balls today would have embarrassed an U12 team. F*cking appalling.
I agree, One of the worst games, I have seen the Swans Live it was atrocious..shambolic, tripe!

Definitely worried with Norwich and Sheffield United below us at momemt. They will improve, will we? Don't think Matos is a relegation dog-fight coach - Lee Johnson or Tony Mowbray were better options.

Let's be honest, neither you or me know if Matos has it in him. No offense but making a statement like that is bit far fetched. Let's see how things go. Other teams will drop off at some point. It happens to everyone, we'll mostly. And hopefully we can start to pick up results. Our fixtures coming up in my opinion are perfect opportunities to get something and try and get a manager bounce.

We shouldn't be betting our future on an unknown, untried foreign manager but that argument is over. Sheffield Utd and Norwich will both get their acts together so for the first time I think that we're in a relegation fight.

Please come back after the next 2 results. I don't have any argument, I'd just be interested.

How many times did we fail to beat the first man? It’s criminal that a professional can’t do that.

Quite so. A couple of our corners in the second half only just reached the front post. And what about the free kick where all the big men are waiting in the penalty area, so we take a short one sideways instead which doesn't work and ends up via several passes back with the keeper. Faceplant stuff.

It has always pissed me off that a pro footballer cant do this. I could hit the 6 yard line / pen spot almost every time at Sunday League level yet this lot seem to be unable to take a corner, and they are apparently "professionals".

I do wonder what the f*** this lot do in training or during the week in general.

... to be back on topic

I am deeply concerned that we have all the problems you dont want. We cant defend and we cant score. We looked decent-ish in attack at times and created 3/4 good chances versus Bristol but didnt score, where as Bristol created 3/4 good chances, with several half chances from corners and scored 3.

Our team looks devoid of confidence, not the best in ability and split in terms of personalities.

Cullen is a proud player but he must rub people up the wrong way when hes constantly yelling whilst at the same time not doing much himself.
Burgess is just as vocal and is playing terribly and has done since the Pre-Season. That game versus Lorient was the showcase of this season!
Cabango is well beyond his level IMO. I've never been a big fan of him. (i know this will piss off many fans)
Ronald is annoying as fk to watch, constantly trying to get free kicks and cant cross for shit, its been a year now, you'd expect him to push on but he just hasnt got it IMO
Then we have a sprinkling of PL maybe players, League 1 or League 2 maybe players and a couple of foreign maybe players. Some of these players look amazing one game and terrible the next. i.e. Galbraith, Eom, Ronald, Franco
Only players who I'd call consistant "Championship" players is Tymon, Vip and Vig (although Vig has caught the sh*t bug recently)

As much as everyone was saying we recruited well, we actually recruited terribly. Although I'd say Idah looked our best player versus Bristol (not difficult I know) and was unfornate not to score.

This is why we are where we are.

It was "bums on seats" excitement.

Not many stopped to think about the quality (or the lack of it).
Sometimes things are not so clear until after the event and it was just erratic looking at it now.
Unbalanced and with far too many similar midfielders with creativity all around wingers.

It was naive and not overly thought out. Mind you, some fans were calling it a superb window 🤣
