Relegation? Should We Be Worried?

We have to be concerned about relegation given the way we're playing & the teams below us.
I know the gap to the bottom 3 is OK now but I can't see any way that Norwich & Sheffield United will continue to be this bad, if they're still there in January they'll invest in the transfer window

Sheffield U will likely hoover up 3 points today. The only doubt is derbies can be unpredictable.

It could be argued that we can't continue to be as bad as we are.
On paper just like Sheffield Utd and Norwich, we have a decent squad that should be performing better than we are.

We need to sort the midfield out, we need to have a settled 2 atleast and not chop and change as much as Sheehan did.

No doubt we need to have a settled team, some rotation is necessary but nowhere near as much as Sheehan was doing.
We're somehow managing to look worse as the season goes on though.
Norwich & Sheffield United haven't appointed a remarkably inexperienced manager & both have more financial resources than us - that worries me.
I'll give all the backing I can to the manager, I'll be at the game on Tuesday & I'm going to West Brom on Saturday.
I desperately hope Matos succeeds but you've got to be concerned about the way the season is unfolding

100% you have to be concerned.
Things didn't sit right with me after the last winter window but people were saying that it was due to the fact that Williams was in his way out.....clearly Williams downed tools upon knowing the takeover was happening and knowing that he was on his last legs.
I can't fault the new owners for their enthusiasm and putting the money in but it's like a rudderless ship at the moment and if they want to see rewards then they need to get things right below them.

I have kept my counsel, kept quiet and hoped that things would work but I should have gone with my gut feeling at the time.

We are now in a position where we are pinning our hopes on a rookie manager albeit with a bit of history as a coach at a top set up(Liverpool).
Over the years we have gone with coaches with big reputations(Ian Evans and Clement as examples) and history tells us that it doesn't work. We need to hope that Matos is that 1 in 20 type.

Please come back after the next 2 results. I don't have any argument, I'd just be interested.
I refuse to go into the next 2 games and say we got it wrong. That's madness. He may not have lots of time to turn it around but you can't give him 2 games. Jesus.

We’ve been rubbish going forward all season and are amongst the worst for all attacking stats. We’ve now also seemingly forgotten how to defend as well - although Cabango and Tymon coming back will help. Combine that with an unknown managerial appointment and we definitely should be worried.

We're a relegation team in all but name. Underlying numbers has us in the bottom 3 and the performances support that. The confidence and psychology of the team is bottom 3 worthy aswell.

There's not one aspect of our play which you can cling onto to get us out of a relegation fight.

I said this a few weeks ago on anothee thread, we dont win at home, we concede easily, we don't score goals and we don't score set pieces. That is the recipe for a relegation team.

if this Matos is the same as Sheehan then we are as good as gone Imo.

4 points off relegation as it stands. I still think it's too early to worry, as a couple of wins takes you mid-table at the moment. I think we probably have the players to stay mid to lower table at least, if the manager makes best use of them.

The problem is, we've appointed someone who we've got no idea how it'll pan out. Maybe our worries will be alleviated by Christmas, but if it's more of the same, with a poor January window (would it surprise you?) then we will need to be looking down rather than up for the last 3 or 4 months of the season.

Such a shame if that's the case, because there was a lot of positivity and promise at the start of the season.

In hindsight, maybe a series of shyte performances against lower league clubs in pre season games ought to have sounded alarm bells?

I reckon we’ll spend this season looking nervously over our shoulders. If we’re looking up, it’ll be because we’re bottom 3. Yesterday really rattled me. I thought on tv we’ve looked poor, live yesterday it all looked a fair bit worse.
