Part of the cricketing establishment and one of the faces I recognise the most from growing up watching cricket in the 80’s and 90’s.

RIP Dickie Bird.

Saw an interview he gave for Sky just a couple of years ago; he was as sharp as ever. Another of life's old-skool characters gone away. RIP Harold "Dicky" Bird 🕊

It’s mental to think that cricket only switched to fully neutral umpires in the early part of this century. Obviously the reason Dicky Bird is such an iconic figure to our generation is because he used to officiate in England tests played in England as an Englishmen. Crazy really. RIP Dicky. One of the faces of my cricket watching life.

I can’t help feeling a sense of relief when I read this, but aww, RIP Dickie.

Big Swans Fan.
Apart from the 2006 playoff final in Cardiff, where Barnsley beat the Swans on penalties.
I was there and I’m sure they showed him on the big screen 🤔
