• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

RIP Mark Lanegan

Lived and died in Ireland with Welsh roots. Even if you were never fan, his books are well worth a look

I only discovered his stuff during lockdown, though I'd unknowingly heard him on some Chilli Peppers songs. Over the course of so many evenings I've locked myself away with beers and played a bit of rip-roaring Lanegan, or watched some of his concert footage on YouTube and wondered if some festival crowds realised they were in the presence of greatness.

He was a proper, hardcore, cool as they come frontman. He wrote some decent music too. And that unbelievable voice - so delightfully gravelly. Listening to him was like being given the world's best back scratch. Damn, I'm gutted he's gone.

I mentioned several years ago on Planetswans about the album Above by the supergroup Mad Season.
This is Mark on vocals. RIP.

He always seemed to be slightly ahead of the curve and never really got the recognition that those that followed got. It felt as if he’d been around forever.

RIP

Yeah, that's very well put. He seems to have been the greatest rock star that people hadn't heard of.

Was lucky enough to see him many times and meet him the once, that voice gave soul to anything it touched. RIP.
