I’m guessing that the demand was there for him to start this business off? Wouldn’t it make sense for the club to reach out and work with him?

Seems that he’s got a better idea of what products people are willing to buy than the commercial department? Already fairly unpopular owners using strong arm tactics…

The issue is probably that the club are not the copyright holders for the majority of shirts, the shirt manufacturers are probably the holders of the design and would want to guarantee quality, safety etc.

I reckon there’s more to this story.
I can’t believe the first port of call would be to take him to court surely someone would have told him to quit first.
That’s my opinion anyway.

This looks like a Intellectual Property rights case, the club are taking him to court over IP theft.

If it was counterfeit goods then trading standards would be prosecuting.

Anyway, the club's legal team would have sent him a cease and desist letter. Normally that is enough to stop the theft.

To take someone to court for this takes a long time, this guy has been selling his shirts whilst all this has been going on.

He tagged the Mind mental health charity in one of his tweets as he was pleading his innocence.

If guilty, this is going to cost him a lot.

FWIW I think the Trust would have been better saying nothing than putting that series of Tweets out there but thats my view

Which is their right but the response from the Trust is not going to put those particular flames out

They will, if anything, pour some more petrol on them
