I am not a great fan of Liddle normally but a nice piece about the state of the Championship, he is very complimentary of us and Coventry as being the best two sides he has seen this season and questions as to how we are in mid table and not amongst the play offs.

Who will join Fulham (AKA Aleksandar Mitrovic Athletic) and Bournemouth in the Premier League?

However, after Fulham, the two best sides I have watched this season are Swansea City and Coventry City and I have heard much the same from neutrals. But slick, cultured Swansea are mired in mid-table and were at one point looking over their shoulders a little anxiously. Coventry, meanwhile, are just about in the mix, but rank outsiders — alongside my lot, Millwall — to steal that last play-off spot.

I have no answer as to why both teams aren’t a lot higher, aside from that ubiquitous caveat “lack of consistency”. Swansea in particular play beautiful football and have an aversion to allowing opponents any share of the ball: they would grace the top division.

Perhaps Rod Liddle really does know something about Championship football. This is an extract from his column today in the Sunday Times, which is behind a paywall. He supports Millwall, who we beat earlier this month 0-1 at their place, presumably with him in attendance.

“ubiquitous caveat” eh, you can tell this is from the Sunday Times.
