We had Potter come here (who left because a premier league club came in for him). We had Cooper come here, who knew what financial constraints he would have to work with.

Speaking of the latter, another good win for them in the Premier League today. Oh to have a manager that knows how to win again.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having sympathy for him. For what it’s worth the impression I’ve had from numerous interviews is that he’s a decent bloke - he uprooted his family to bring them to Swansea, which not all managers would have done. I think in yesterday’s interview he was genuinely gutted about how the match had gone (on a background of how things had gone over the preceding days). In much the same way, his interview after Page snubbed Cooper for the WC squad I think showed him to be genuinely disappointed for Oli and frustrated at Page. I think I noticed that Piroe went over to him to celebrate after his first goal yesterday (although I could be wrong on that) but if so that would suggest he’s not as toxic an individual as some would have you believe.

Of course, that has no bearing on whether he’s right for the job. He clearly isn’t up to it and I agree he needs to move on one way or another. I just think we should be able to separate the man from the manager.

We’ll never know the truth of that. He hasn’t half seemed to fall out with a lot of players though.

So you think we'll get another good manager after it becoming public that we are the only championship club to not get a single player in during the transfer window. And how the owners hold the purse strings. I have my doubts

Maybe so, but we can hold multiple views on situations at once. We don’t have to have as polarised views as seem to be the norm on social media. Yes he truly messed up yesterday. Yes he’s not demonstrated any evidence of learning from his mistakes. Yes he needs to go. Equally, yes I believe he was genuinely devastated yesterday, but sympathising with him doesn’t negate my beliefs on his performance as manager.

Incidentally, if he is putting that on then he’s a better actor than a football manager (not that the bar is especially high ).

This can easily be countered by a look at the recent spending history of Championship clubs. We might not know the motivation for signing Karlan Grant, however nobody can question the intent or the height of the wage we were prepared to throw around. Transfer windows prior to this have seen sizeable spend.

There will always be managers wanting to come here, and we rarely got for proven or good managers anyway.
