I think much of this can be boiled down. The owners/Winter brought in RM to play his style of football. To implement this style it takes a very particular type of player. It very much seemed at his hiring that RM was going to have the financial backing of the owners, at least relatively speaking.

What we saw this past window was anything but the financial backing we (and RM) were led to believe. I feel like we’ve seen this film before….

I don’t say all of this to excuse RM, but rather explain my feelings on it. If you’d told me at the beginning of the season he’d come in at the last moment and not get proper backing in the January window, I’d say we would expect the season to go just about how it’s going. The fixture congestion (which many clubs have had but us a bit more so) we’ve had hasn’t helped the thin squad.

One other point remains. The league has figured out how to beat us, given the inadequate squad we have to play the RM style. An aggressive high press and we’re done. Simple as.

The real question is, do we abandon his style to get results for the rest of the season or do we forge ahead and accept mid/lower-mid table finish?

I’d vote that we forge on. If we plan to progress as a club we really must deal with the ownership situation first. Manager merry-go-round will not solve this.

Jesus does anyone really think the 11 out there yesterday were going to be good enough to get anything, let alone playing the last 35 again with 10 men.
Bennett, Smith and Fulton cleary not good enough.
Having to put downes so deep because we are lacking at the back so much.

I dont for one second think that Martin has gotten it right on more than a few occasions, but i don't think he has really been given a fair go either. Potter made loads of decisions which were derided on here. Give the bloke time and see where we go. If we are struggling at Nov/Dec time then maybe he should go.

No obviously not but they were mostly his players and he stick his excuses where the sun don’t shine.

Sorry, but I don’t get this forging on bit. A good manager would use the tools he’s got - even if it means it taking a bit longer to mould the team into what he wants. Sending decent players out on loan and expecting players to play out of position is asking for trouble. Get a grip Russ and park the ego.

That's the problem, it's quiet clear that he's not going to change his game plan /style. Ultimately he believes in his system and will stick with it.

Looking at the crime sheet currently against RM as of the Luton game:

1. Persisting with wingback system when we don't have wingbacks
2. Playing Ntcham as left winger when he is a central midfielder
3. Taking out Naughton and leaving in Sorinola who has consistently disappointed
4. Taking off Joe who was the best player on the pitch
5. Piroe coming so deep and not staying near the top of the pitch can only be coaching instructions
6. Grinning and having a chuckle on the touchline when the side are 2-0 down
7. Bombing out every player we have who can play in attacking wide positions
8. Always willing to throw his players under the bus when something has gone wrong
9. No team gives up more chances per time in possession to the opponent than Swansea
10. Swansea have not won at home since April
11. No other team in the EFL or Premier League has given up more 2+ goal leads than RM since he took over
12. Persistence in playing players out of position
13. Poor tactical awareness in regards to substitutions and the timing of them
14. Persists in picking players who are out of form when others who make impressive cameos are ignored
