Russell Martin to Norwich City – Surely there is nothing in these reports?

Agree with the majority here, if they come in for him he won't be able to say no. Think this is the best timing for us though; if it were the upcoming pre-season then I don't think we'd have a leg to stand on, but Norwich's no.1 priority right now is to stay in that league, and I don't think Russell will be their choice for that at this stage.

Agree with this.

It seems like Martin's system takes some getting used to, so he just doesn't seem like a mid-season appointment for a club trying to stay in the PL. If they were relegated and looking for a manager in the summer, then Martin would make a lot more sense. I would have thought they were looking for a survival specialist to see if they can claw their way to another season in the PL.

Having said that, he's gone in a flash if they come in for him. He's already shown he's happy to leave a settled job for a team in the division above, he played over 300 games for Norwich, he wouldn't get a lot of the blame for relegation and would then have a big transfer kitty to spend at a club that's already proven it can win this league at a canter.

He'd ruin his career in management like Monk.
Too much too soon.

Dog eat dog. If Norwich go for him, then he's gone. Nothing more to it than that.
Ah that's the end of that debate then!

Personally, I disagree. He's building something here, on the up and is a great fit for us (and he knows it). Norwich are sliding and not the best time for anyone to take over. He will leave one day of course, as is the way for our RM's. But, it'll be on the back of success here. Win win. All IMHO of course.

I hear what you're saying, but they are 'his' club and they are in the PL - I don't think he can turn that down...and I wouldn't blame him either. It's just one of those things.

Thankfully he's still a bit unproven, I think they'll be looking elsewhere.
