The Ukraine is a sovereign state and Putin is clearly the aggressor here. He’s not doing it for the Russian people. He’s doing it because he’s scared shitless of Lavalny and young critical Russians. It’s got absolutely nothing to do with protecting Russians. He couldn’t give a shit how many die.

Are you also going to highlight that Putin,via his bank owner chum, is financing far left and far right groups across the globe including a certain Marie LePen. Are you going to highlight the fact that LGBT activists, journalists critical of Russia and many others were either murdered or beaten up by fascists in Moscow a few years ago...none were arrested.

Nope, it will be down to the tonnes of lethal weapon systems the west donated to Ukraine to help defend themselves. Russia has a GDP smaller than New York and keeping that many soldiers and equipment in the area costs A LOT of money. To lose a lot of them in even a limited conflict would be problematic to Putin. He might just take another small chunk of Ukraine but anything larger could cost him a lot of soldiers and equipment and bog him down in another Chechnya type situation.

This crisis was Putin using brinkmanship to see what he could gain and/or where he could foster division in the west. It also helps keep the Russian people distracted from their domestic situation and the nationalists supporting him blindly.

The Russians have been doing this for donkeys years since Putin got in power. Putin is basically taking the piss knowing it's win win.

As for the weapons supplied - bows and arrows vs very advanced tech, Russia could easily take Kiev if it wanted.

As i said earlier, Putin knows as long as he pretends to threaten Ukraine then they cannot join NATO.

At the end of the day, imagine Russia having an agreement with France to put anti-missile and nuclear missiles in Northern France to point at us. We would be a rad miffed would we not?

NATO broke agreements towards the end of the cold war which Russia has never forgotten. Like them or not, Russia has every right to defend itself from western aggression.

High tech Russian weapons? Where have you got that from they have the GDP of a small European Country. The technology they have is literally stratosphere's from the likes of the US Military. There would be one winner in a major conflict between Russia and Nato, you could even include China in that aswell.
