• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I just dont get why Putin would be p!ssed off about Ukraine joining NATO or whatever the heck he's getting in a tizzy about.🤷‍♂️

In the old days of the Cold War, USSR animosity against NATO was understandable but in these days of super Capatalist Russia why doesn't Russia join NATO as well...?..

Russia was offered to join NATO.

When Russia *does not* ‘invade’ Ukraine this week the U.S. and its loyal lapdog the UK will claim it was because the ‘West’ stood up to the Russian bear adding that ‘we must remain vigilant’ to keep the pot boiling.

Nope, it will be down to the tonnes of lethal weapon systems the west donated to Ukraine to help defend themselves. Russia has a GDP smaller than New York and keeping that many soldiers and equipment in the area costs A LOT of money. To lose a lot of them in even a limited conflict would be problematic to Putin. He might just take another small chunk of Ukraine but anything larger could cost him a lot of soldiers and equipment and bog him down in another Chechnya type situation.

This crisis was Putin using brinkmanship to see what he could gain and/or where he could foster division in the west. It also helps keep the Russian people distracted from their domestic situation and the nationalists supporting him blindly.

The Russians have been doing this for donkeys years since Putin got in power. Putin is basically taking the piss knowing it's win win.

As for the weapons supplied - bows and arrows vs very advanced tech, Russia could easily take Kiev if it wanted.

As i said earlier, Putin knows as long as he pretends to threaten Ukraine then they cannot join NATO.

At the end of the day, imagine Russia having an agreement with France to put anti-missile and nuclear missiles in Northern France to point at us. We would be a rad miffed would we not?

NATO broke agreements towards the end of the cold war which Russia has never forgotten. Like them or not, Russia has every right to defend itself from western aggression.

This is an interesting take. At some point, Putin will need to be faced down.

This is an excellent article and I concur with the authoress about the best tactics to employ against Putin.
Russia is a fascist state headed by fascist in chief Putin. It's a pipe-dream to ever imagine he could be removed by democratic means in Russia because democracy doesn't exist there. The best way to hit Putin is to punish the wealthy and influencial people in Russia by all the means suggested in the article, to the point where they begin to turn against their tinpot dictator.
Not that the Tories would support such a move. Their party is heavily funded and influenced by those very people.

If I was sitting in one of those Russian tanks I would be worried about modern versions of bows and arrows like shoulder mounted javelin missiles which Ukraine has plenty of , it wouldn't be easy for Russia to take Kiev , don't see a full invasion happening anyway , its mostly posturing by both sides

If I were manning mounted Javelin missiles, I would be shitting bricks at the prospect of a very heavy air bombardment.

It is amusing though seeing Boho and Truss being tied up in knots so easily. If only the opposition could do the same, it's not that difficult.

You seemed to have forgotten that Russia has already invaded Ukraine.

I find it odd that accross both of the boards you are waving your pom-poms for an authoritarian who is running a kleptocracy. Give your head a wobble.

Not waving a pom pom at all, just commenting on how stupid and weak western leaders are. Putin knows it as well.

And any comments on my post immediately before the one you replied to?

Shocking no-one...

This is not about Russian sensitivities about NATO encroaching closer to Russian borders. It’s about a thief and his cronies who have robbed the Russian people for years. He’s scared stiff that young people in Russia might actually find democracy a better option. As for his apologists on the left in Europe- it’s about they woke up and realised he’s been promoting right wing extremists in Europe for years. It’s nothing to do with Russians. They deserve better. Navalny locked up for trying. He’s the true Russian hard man. Rant over.
