This. If I was a cynic, I'd comment on how amazing it is that so many partners of highly paid professional sportsmen realise a few days later that actually it was all their fault and they don't wish to press charges...

Also, it's always amusing how people's responses to this kind of story change depending on how they feel about the individual involved (and I've probably done the same thing). If it's someone we like (Kevin Johns for instance), then people hope he's innocent and don't want to discuss it until the case is closed. When it's an ex-Man United player and serial international friendly dodger like Giggs, then he should be immediately sacked and not given any benefit of the doubt while the facts are being investigated.

It’s not up to her to ‘press charges’, it’s likely the Crown Prosecution Service will charge. They’re very hot on domestic violence.

Even if she retracts, they’ll proceed and try to (dependent upon how upset she was) proceed on the 999 call or 1st complaint to the police.
