2 goals and 2 assists in a season tell you all you need to know about Eom. He looks a player , terrific balance and energy , but the stats don't lie. Don't understand the reluctance by successive managers to try him at 10.
I'll let my eyeballs tell me rather than stats, in a better side, in a better league, Eom would shine imho.

The thing is though that for all Eom looks great, his stats are awful. I like him a lot but there’s obviously something missing at the moment.

It may be that what’s missing is better players around him of course, but it’s difficult to say with any certainty unless we get some.

Widell is a player with potential no doubt but he's in the same mould as Franco for me. Will be a fans favourite due to his work rate but he either players in the middle or not at all. Just doesn't offer the threat out wide and we lack balance. I think stamenic is nailed on for the 6 role next season so be interesting to see how the rest of the midfield plays out.

All our players can look good in some parts of games , but if our forward players are not scoring or creating goals, particularly our wide players, we have got problems. If it wasn't for Vipotnik goals this season we would have been facing relegation. It's the same with our midfield players, all hustle and bustle , but sadly no creativity or goal threat.

Melker ‘end product’ Widdell is getting better, that flick in the first half to Tymon was right out of the top drawer, natural creativity.
Just needs to overcome the headless chicken tendency when he gets in the box, missed a sitter last week and today.

Still can’t comprehend how Downes didn’t see red.

I just watched the replay and Downes could have had 2 red cards … first he absolutely smashes Cullen in the face with his elbow… then he puts his hands around Widell’s throat on the floor. Absolute lunatic.
The elbow was enough, he should have gone for that, im sure half time the officials would have realised that, hence the non appearance of slippery fopr the 2nd half, im sure the next fould he would ave gone.
but once again we get poor refs.......or maybe tunnel vision refs.

I'll still say Adam Idah would have scored us 15 goals at least if Vipotnik wasn't Numero uno up top. All about opinions aye.

I think he may do very well next year. But today he wasn’t great to be honest. I was surprised when Wood beat him for pace later on given he was fresh. (And yes, I know Wood is pretty quick for a centre half but still).

I thought he was superb today. He caused them all sorts of problems and looked to have more confidence. That moment when he picked up the ball, drove at the defence and forced a save from the keeper is completely missing from all our other midfielders and wingers. He obviously needs to start chipping in with assists and goals, but he’s an interesting prospect. And his energy is hugely important to how we play.

To be fair I wouldn't say Wood beat him for pace. Wood looked to have a 2 yard head start and got ended up with a 2 yard lead. Matched him rather than beat him.

Same old Swans of the last couple of years. We’re pretty good between both boxes, not bad defensively, but pretty poor in the final third. It was very obvious today that when someone broke forward they often had no support. Nobody close to them and often no Vip in the box. We have to work on that.

Today is another showing of how far we have come.
Southampton are a very good team and top form in league.
I think we matched them for periods and without a bent ref could have even won.
For me, burgess has to be replaced, great in the air but has at least 4 mistakes a game and some of his touch finders should be in a rugby field.
Cullen shouldn’t be starting games, he offers not much at all. Maybe a sub last 10 as he can pop up with important goals, but doesn’t do much else. (I know he’s one of our own and I wish he could do better).
Seems like again we need more wingers to challenge or offer something different to Eom, Ronald and maybe widdle (who I thought was outstanding today.

That’s it, but I am far happier with how we are shaping up.
At least looking forward to a new season!
