Hope so, and hope that also leads to abandoning players who wont be here next season / aren't good enough and giving as much playing time as possible to ones that should have a future here, Parker, Walta, Govea etc.
I would agree with that. It's pointless going with loan players for the rest of the season if they won't be here next season.

I would certainly be surprised if Walta isn't given a run on Monday.

Agree that 16th shouldn’t come with a caveat and neither should 9th. You finish where you deserve to finish after 46 games.

My point was that the position shouldn’t alter the thinking/plan for the summer. I think most supporters and those inside the club know what we need, irrespective of how the next 6 games pan out.

Being able to deliver on that is why Gorringe, Worth, Matos et al are being paid what they are. I’ll judge that next May!

I’ve always said position only matters when it comes to actual rewards or drawbacks from positions, top 6 and bottom 3.

Everything else should be measured on points rather than positions because it tells you more. I’d rather finish 14th on 63 points than 11th on 58 points because it means you have won more football matches and that’s the part that determines longer term success.

Matos has been in charge for 23 games now, exactly half a season and has amassed 36 points, which is 72 points over the course of a season and likely enough for top 6.

Smaller sample size, but some said similar about Sheehan this time last year.

Not that I disagree in principle about ‘points vs position’ but extrapolating part season ‘points per game’ is largely irrelevant as we all start with zero in August and finish somewhere based on the 46 games that follow. Ideally in the top 6 (well top 8 next season).

Currently I feel more confident that we’ll spend more time flirting with the top 8 than the bottom 8 next season based on the direction of travel though.

I'd be tempted to say with such a short turn around from now til Mon if Leo doesn't feature against Boro I doubt we will see him in a Swans kit again.
Walta had two hard matches last week in New Zealand, then had to fly half way around the world to get back. Maybe the staff thought that he wasn't ready for another game so soon.
