Bit more of a link from Midfield to attack, Ayew has to be more centrally and kept forward with support from the link midfielders in Hourihane and Dahnda
Not a massive tweak but we need a bit more thrust in Midfield to link up with the front line.
Ooo I like the look of that. Not so much a must win, more a must perform, in order to stop the rot.

I'm not sure we should keep picking Ayew at this point in time. Given the criticism that is being aimed at CH from yesterday please can someone tell me what Ayew bought to the team and when was the last time he had a good game?

I've said this for the last 17 games and got hounded for it. He brings nothing at the moment - no pace, slow (in speed and thoughts), selfish. We need to drop the flat three midfield against these 'weaker' teams.

A couple of defending corner clearances. He needs a time out of the team as does Lowe. Problem is we are short of true options. I would drop him imo he slows things down.
In open play and although I keep hearing that he is a team player imo it's all about him.

Unfortunately, the injury to Morris doesn’t give us too many options.

One of Lowe or Ayew probably have to play. Both look wrecked at the moment.

Sadly I think the last part is very close to being bang on the money. When things go against us the floor smacking comes in when decisions don't go his way. This is why I would chuckle when people say he is a potential captain as he isn't. A good player but should be so much better at this level if he adapted himself properly

Dhanda has to start for me. Although he's not always great he adds an urgency to our play. I would play Lowe and rest Ayew. Smith has to come in. I doubt he'll drop Grimes or Hourihane so Fulton will be the regular fall guy.

We got the ref that we had for Sheffield Wednesday home.. great.

Stop the rot? Don’t get me wrong we haven’t played great the last 2 or 3 games but we’ve won 5, drawn 1 and lost 1 in 2021 in the league so far.

I hope we win on Wednesday, for gods sake, otherwise this place will meltdown.

Cooper won't be looking at the 2021 stats until season end I hope, just addressing opportunities for improvement following any given game. That didn't happen on Saturday unfortunately - evidently the small cracks v forest got wider imo. I think we'll see better use of the squad, improved individual and collective performances and a gritty win on Wednesday, thus avoiding inevitable meltdown!

MEET THE REF

Wednesday's referee is Andy Woolmer

Steve Cooper and Andy Woolmer will come face to face for the first time since the Swans draw with Sheffield Wednesday back in November. Cooper's post match reaction to that performance got him a hefty fine and it will be interesting to read the press questioning ahead of this game of Cooper.

Following Woolmer's decision to disallow a late Swans winner, Cooper said after the game "It was a performance I predicted from the official and one that I spoke to the governing body about a few days ago.

"My prediction was right. One thing was for sure, that, whatever the decision was, it was not going to us. It's personal unfortunately.

“There were a few warning signs with the appointment, and maybe my gripe isn’t just with the performance on the pitch. Maybe it’s with how he came to be here.

“I don’t want to say too much, because we know who loses in these situations, and it’s me and the club with a fine.”

The FA Statement announcing the fine had said “Swansea City FC’s Steve Cooper has been fined £3,500 for a breach of FA Rule E3 that followed an EFL Championship match against Sheffield Wednesday FC on Wednesday 25 November 2020.

“The head coach admitted that comments he made during a post-match interview constitute improper conduct, as they questioned the integrity of the match officials and bring the game into disrepute, and a Regulatory Commission imposed the sanction during a subsequent hearing.”

Cooper's fine amounted to £3,500.

The comments were believed to stem back to a 0-0 draw with QPR last season, a game where Woolmer waved away three penalty claims from the Swans.

"They're two penalties for me. I've looked back at them. I've been to see the referee to talk it through with him," Cooper said after that particular game

"I think the first one on Yan, you've seen them given. I get it, the boy is just a bit bigger than Yan.

"But, for me, he's taken Rhian's leg, the goalkeeper when he scooped the ball.

"For the amount of free-kicks the ref gave, and what for, how he hasn't given that on Andre at the end is beyond me really."

The appointment of Woolmer to look after this game is an interesting one and a decision that could easily been avoided with some sensible thinking at FA quarters. His appointment has the potential to create pre-match discussion around the referee which is never what either side will want going into a game and certainly a distraction that the Swans can do without following Saturday's 4-1 defeat at Huddersfield.

Given Cooper has already raised concerns pre match to the FA this season you wonder if he will be doing it again.

Woolmer will be assisted by Lee Venamore and Nick Greenhalgh whilst John Busby will be the fourth official.

It's a tricky one at the moment eh. Although he's arguably best suited to a 5-a-side game, right now we need his influence, workrate and ability to change a game imo. Plus as you say we're short of options. He should have been rested and used more sparingly before now I believe. Plus it's a good message that no-one is immune from the bench!

MATT GRIMES | NO TIME TO DWELL AS SWANSEA CITY SEEK IMMEDIATE REACTION

Source: Swansea Official Site

Matt Grimes insists Swansea City won’t allow their setback at Huddersfield Town affect their preparations when they host Coventry City on Wednesday night (7pm).

The Swans went down 4-1 in Yorkshire last weekend in what Grimes described as their worst performance of the campaign.

Despite sitting on level terms at the break, three goals within seven minutes inflicted a first league defeat in 10 games for Steve Cooper’s men.

The Swans also had to play the last 30 minutes with 10 men after Jordan Morris – one of five substitutes already on the pitch – was stretchered off after landing awkwardly.

In what was a hugely disappointing afternoon for the Swans, Grimes feels squad is determined to put in a much-improved performances for the midweek clash with Coventry at the Liberty.

“There’s no time to dwell,” said the Swans skipper. “There’s another game on Wednesday and we’ve got to dust ourselves down and go again.

“There are no easy games in this league. I really believe that anyone can beat anyone in this league.

“We were very disappointed after the performance against Huddersfield, and we can’t let that affect us going into this game, and we won’t let it do that.

“It’s a different game and an opportunity for us to show it was a one-off and that we’re much better that that.”

I have been saying Ayew has been struggling for a while not all his fault but he doesn't help himself, to some on the forums he is a god and beyond criticism. Funnily enough i thought he was marginally better Saturday. The worrying thing for me at present is the injuries and Lowe looks like he is in need of a rest big time. As for Hooligan we might as well kept Celina, other than the goals work rate has been disappointing. I would steady the ship with Fulton Grimes and Smith in midfield Wednesday, as for the rest that's why we pay Cooper.
