Season 20/21: The Official Swansea City v AFC Bournemouth Match Thread

Outstanding result against a Prem league team.

Cooper and the boys did a number on them. Palmer and Gyokeres not only closed the game out by pushing the oppo back on their heels, but we took the game to them in the closing stages. Odd that some fail to see this. Clearly never kicked a ball.

Grimes motm. The spine is looking good.

They’re not a Prem team by the way. Not sure why you keep saying that, Mrs Cooper.

Grimes excellent, as usual.

Need a goal or two, next week is going to be good, fancy us to put the Turds down the Taf

No? I’m on the edge of my seat. Two good teams cancelling each other out. Could go either way.

Our lack of quality up front, apart from Ayew, was glaring tonight. There were a couple of occasions in the second half where we had one man to beat to go forward for a strike on goal but we just weren’t good enough. My thoughts went back to Alan Curtis in those positions.

The pitch isn't helping on that matter!

Freddie Woodman praised Swansea City’s defensive resolve after Steve Cooper’s side kept their ninth clean sheet of the campaign following a 0-0 draw with Bournemouth.

The shares were spoiled at the Liberty Stadium in a tight encounter that saw the Swans move onto 30 points from 17 games.

With a defensive trio that included 20-year-olds Ben Cabango and Joel Latibeaudiere – the latter making his full league debut – the Swans stood strong against a Bournemouth team that were in the Premier League last season.

Woodman did well to deny Junior Stanislas and Welshman David Brooks as he kept the Cherries at bay, while, at the other end, Jamal Lowe went closest for the Swans with a neat first-half effort.

And Woodman was delighted with the efforts of his team-mates as the Swans maintained the best defensive record in the division.

"It was obviously nice to get a clean sheet. It makes things a little bit easier as a goalkeeper when you've got players in front of you that will put their bodies on the line,” said the Swans keeper.

“Joel made a few good blocks, Ben's made good blocks; I thought we defended well. We probably deserved a point.

"They've still got a lot of Premier League quality. They spent a lot of money on players and it's nice to put yourself up against those sorts of players and come away with a clean sheet.

“We're a little disappointed that we didn't create as many chances, but we can come away happy that we did keep a clean sheet.”

Neither keeper really had much to do with both sides defending well, Bournemouth started well but despite getting in good positions didn’t really test Woodman, unfortunately without a out and out striker this is always going to be an issue for us.

He should be grateful, his performance was awful with wayward distribution and brain-freeze passes put us under pressure.
