Great result, and performances have been improving, but it’s the hope that gets you.
I hope this isn’t a false dawn.
3-0 and I feel a bit cheated as it should have been more. If we had scored a couple of the chances we created in the first half instead of the 2 giveaways by Hull, I might feel more positive. It did look more of a team performance but it needs building on now as the October fixtures look difficult.
If we have turned the corner then a playoff push is possible as the league is wide open, but I do think that’s the limit of our expectations, as we still have flaws that need sorting (as many clubs)
Hull offered very little but only after the third did I feel relaxed, but looking back it was a total win.
Let’s hope for more of the same as the WBA tickets arrived Thursday.

3 points, happy days.

Saying that we looked woefully low on quality once Allen went off, thankfully Hull handed it to us on a plate.

Always said to be relegated in this league you have to be proper shite, being just shite is often enough to stay up.

Cundle was a more than adequate replacement for Joey.

I was impressed. Would have given the MOM award to Cooper myself, but not a shock that former Wolves player Don Goodman gave it to Cundle.

Watching Hudds vs scum. We are 10 times better than either of these.

As was proven by him deservedly getting the Sky man of the match award.

Hull were comfortably the worst team I have seen for a good few years. If we had won by 5 or 6 (and they have their keeper to thank for that in the first half, our pressure could have seen them totally collapse) it would bot have been undeserved.

Glad to see though that we dont have the monopoly on keystone cops defending

Best part of today was to see Oba running round like a loon now he knows Ollie is ahead of him . The young man was excellent.
As someone said, Hull were awful, but we still had to do the biz....and should have scored 7.
Russ battles on, not a day to criticise, but him giving it the big un after a win....do me a favour FFS.

It's no good saying that, Monny, those collapses DID happen, we didn't dream them. it's an "if my uncle had tits" argument. The fact we collapsed in those games shows that we're fundamentally weak mentally, defensively. We're a mid table team at best.

Everyone has tits surely 🤔

No, some have tits with nipples on the end. Some of us just have nipples 😉

The Sky coverage cut to the Hull owner in the stands once or twice, he looked distinctly unimpressed. Get a bet on the next manager to be sacked......

To be fair in the interview after the game their manger looked close to tears he was distraught, so I think he knows his fate, must be terrible having to rely on others to keep your job and unfortunately that's the way it is in Football.

Hull were a very poor side we should have scored 6 or 7 we need to be more clinical.

Martin may have learnt from his mistakes last Tuesday kept Fulton and only took Cooper off in injury time.

Player ratings from me for this game:

Benda - 8
Two routine saves to make, cut out a few crosses and was a safe pair of hands the whole game. Won't have many easier games than this one

Wood - 8
No scary moments from Wood this game, got booked but also did well to track back a Hull player on the rare occasion they got goalside of him and cut out the chance before they could shoot

Naughton - 8
Heavily involved throughout and picked up a couple of knocks, will have plenty of bruises in the morning for sure. Cracking ball over the top for Piroe after 10 minutes deserved to be an assist

Cabango - 8
His form is improving and right now I think he is keeping Darling out on merit. Dominant in the air and unlucky with a scuffed chance from a corner routine in the second half

Manning - 8
Lots of running, good defensive tracking and got the vital first goal. A few great ball deliveries as well, why he didn't get an Ireland call up I don't know, based on his last couple of performances do Ireland have a better left back than him?

Sorinola - 7
Continuing to grow in confidence as the season goes on, his positioning is good but final ball still needs work. Saving that though it would be unfair not to praise his assist for Manning's goal, he teased the defender and cut back onto his left to put in a perfectly weighted ball on a plate for Manning

Grimes - 7
I felt he played more on the front foot for the first 20 and the last 20 than he has recently and he looked a better player for it. As guilty as many others (arguably more so as he is the lynchpin of the side) for slowing the game down for the periods between that, more high tempo and we might see the best of him again

Allen - 7
Moved it quickly and always looking for a forward option while also never shy of the dirty work breaking up play from Hull. Hamstring twinge meant he only played an hour but hopefully will return before the next game

Fulton - 8
I have criticised him a few times over the past month or two but he has improved a lot in the past few games. Seems to be growing into partnership with Oli Cooper as the two advanced midfielders nicely, slotted in seamlessly into the Allen position alongside Grimes after the injury

Cooper - 8
Never stopped running or looking to make things happen. Still plenty to learn but is justifying his place on the teamsheet right now. Made way for Oko-Flex near the end of the game to a standing ovation

Piroe - 8
Scored a goal but could have very easily walked away with three or four in this game. His movement was great and he is starting to look back to his best, if we can get him on song and he gets more clinical then another 20+ goal season from him is almost a certainty

Cundle - 8
Superb when he came on. Plenty of running and some fantastic flicks and one touch play around the box. No small amount of luck for his goal but they all count and it will do him a world of good to get a strong performance under his belt

Obafemi - 7
A mixed reaction from the crowd when he came on late, so so close to an assist for Oko-Flex with the only real involvement he had before full time. Need more time on the pitch to see if his head is back in the right place or not.

Oko-Flex - 7
Close to getting a goal denied by a last ditch tackle. Didn't have time for much else still yet to get more than a minute or two here and there but I have no doubts his chance will come.

Stevens - 6
Low score not because he didn't perform well but only because I am not sure he got to do much on the ball. One series of wall passes up the line comes to mind but he didn't really have enough time to make an impression.

Martin - 7
Right team selection. Glad that he dropped Paterson based on his shocking substitute appearance in midweek, was the perfect opportunity to get Obafemi back on the bench and he took it. Cundle substitution with Fulton dropping back was the perfect call and he resisted calling on Ntcham who was also very poor against Sheffield United. Only complaint is that I think he could have brought on Oko Flex a bit earlier than he did but considering recent capitulations I can understand why he resisted making changes until the game was done.
