Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Bristol City 0 Swansea City 1 | Att: 21,554 | The EFL Championship

Someone mentioned a few posts up that was our best second half for ages and have to agree. We’ve had some collapses recently at Cardiff, Norwich & Pompey but we really dug in and ground that out today - especially against a team who’d won 5 out of 6 at home. O’Brien, Franco and Delcroix all had great games and Vigs kept us in it in the first half. Still plenty to improve on but we’ve at least got the gap to the bottom three looking a lot more healthy.

He’s still shit. We’re going one direction with him. The players aren’t great but they are better than he’s making them look. He needs to be kicked out when we are safe. He’ll fist pump now, the twat. Something for the fans though I suppose, so fair enough. Better than sprinting down the tunnel like he would have if we’d lost anyway.

Anyway, we did deserve that. We had by far the best real chances. Massive win. Happy.
To me it just shows that with a manager who knows what he's doing we would be so much better as a footballing team.

You watched the 2nd half and thought smash and grab?

We weren’t great in the first but 2nd half we were the better side and should have scored more than 1
I thought we improved steadily as the game went on, at least until Naughton was subbed, which is no mean feat when O’Brien was making his debut and getting to know his teammates. We continued to defend well (or at least not as badly as we have been - some of our clearances were needlessly rushed and aim-less) when we went to two CBs, although I wouldn’t say we showed any further improvement from that point onwards.

I've got to mention both Ronald and Vip being put through into their area in the first half with lovely passes, then totally fecking up with efforts eight year old schoolboys would have been ashamed of, when under no pressure from close defenders.
Just what is wrong with our players when they get a sniff at goal? Answers on a postcard.

Confidence. That's only thing I can think of and pressure.
The positive ill take from this is, we got into those positions. If we didn't I would complain more. I get your point 100%. But this can be improved

Data sets like xG are making players question their decision making. It’s put doubt into minds and that impacts on quality of play.

Also I don't want to single you out as I understand your sentiment with your opinion. Your right, they should of done better. But as I mentioned alot of things have gone on and I'll give them a pass this time. It's not the time to turn on players. We have been doing this for weeks and the club, rightfully so. But we need to build on this. No doubt we will have more pain and your points are super valid. But let's enjoy today even if it's 1 day. We was lucky at times and we could be talking about this when we got defeated. But let's be happy for now.

I'm not turning on them, I'm just genuinely gobsmacked. We seem to do it on a regular basis. I watch a lot of football, and I very rarely see it elsewhere. They don't even test the keeper. That's what's really frustrating.

I get that. And agree. We do see this alot. I can only put it down to circumstances. But get your points 👍👍👍💪

Yeah, I’ve a feeling there’s something to that. Data does seem to be becoming a tail that wags the dog.

Loved that show of togetherness at the end of the game, let’s show it every match no excuses.
It's easy when you win. Every place in the world is normally (not always) a happy camp when winning and a rabble when losing. Lots of badge punching today.
