I've often wondered what O'Leary did at the club.

And this is the crux of it. Nobody here is claiming that we've got a brilliant squad. We do have a squad that is better than shipping three goals at Cardiff or four at Portsmouth. We have a squad that could at least look like it knows what it's doing on the pitch.

Most teams in the division outside the top four or five have maybe a strong First XI and then the quality drops the deeper on the bench you go. We're far from alone in that.

Exactly. We do not have a poor squad by Championship standards (let alone L1 which has been mentioned). People saying we are awful all round are talking rubbish. Surprising from some respectable posters.

Reason we're so inconsistent is because the manager only has one way of playing regardless of the opposition.

Decent enough to compete for a playoff spot? Probably not. Decent enough to be safe in mid table and not ship seven goals in two away games to relegation candidates? Absolutely.

We've been here before. We spent most of the Winter of 22/23 being told that our manager was helpless in the face of a squad that just wasn't good enough, which was total bollocks. That squad could have competed for a playoff spot if Martin hadn't been such a charlatan.

Williams doesn't have that quality of player available to him, but he does have players good enough to avoid results and performances like today. Players good enough to deliver a much more entertaining and engaged style of play. They don't because he's not up to it.
