Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Millwall 1 Swansea City 0 | Att: 17,239 (Jacks 1,354) | 26th April 2025 | The EFL Championship

Deserved a draw based on the second half showing. However, Sheehan got it wrong today, with the starting eleven - Vipotnik and Allen should have started. But more importantly tactically that was not the way to go against a physical side. If ever there was a game where playing it out from the back was the pragmatic as well as the principled way of playing this was it. Vigouroux hoofing the ball down the pitch gave the ball back. Every time... This is where I have doubts about Sheehan. Yes, he's done great overall, but the way we set up against Derby and today raises legitimate questions about his judgement.

Millwall Fans invading the pitch while Swansea fans can be heard singing Franco Song. God I hate Millwall fans just as much as Luton. But today I like Luton more as Cardiff went down 😂😂

Disappointing result
Disappointing performance
Disappointing team selection and tactics

Sheehan played right into Millwall's hands by deploying Cullen who wouldn't win a high ball if his life depended on it alongside the carthorse Fulton. There was no composure or quality at the base of the midfield and we got sucked into their type of game with regular punts and head tennis, there was only ever going to be one winner

We had chances to score yes, but ultimately this failure was on Sheehan for me personally

He blocked the shot?
No it went over for a goal kick
But he just stood and watched and gave up a ten yard headstart for the attacker to run onto the ball and beat him to it which led to the chance in the first place

We deserved a point out of that game, but can’t argue too much as we didn’t look like scoring despite creating some excellent chances. VP did himself no favors when he came on. Cooper trying an overhead kick when he could have just laid the ball off - come on son, have some self awareness.

And Bianchini has had way too many offisides due to being lazy and not keeping up with the last line that he can fuxk off back to France and play for laughs over there instead.

Plenty of positives to take from the 2nd half though. Overall, more good evidence for where we need to strengthen in the summer.

I'm not ready to start turning on Sheehan 😂😂. Not saying you are. Your spot on with what you said but it was always going to be a difficult match. VP and Allen should of started. And to be fair Cooper added energy. VP shown why he should of started. I had no issues with subs. It was always going to be difficult. I'll give Sheehan a break. With contract talks it might of thrown things off. Also with the team he has at disposal and lack of depth under Williams we would of lost that more heavier.

Thought Cooper added good energy and Allen is reminder why we need to find a replacement for Fulton. VP did well and Eom could of scored. The land of giants that Millwall was. We did ok. Though VP and Allen should of scored

By far the better team second half. It's refreshing to see us change our approach during a game and it actually have a positive effect.
You hope Sheehan takes a lot from this game and understands the qualities of some players a bit better. Needs to be more bold with his selections/subs but he's still learning.

He won’t have learned anything about the quality of our squad that he didn’t already know.

Vigouroux made 39 passes, 34 of which were long balls. Only 5 of which found a Swansea player. Of the 5 short passes, 4 were completed. Says it all really. Against a team of giants, with Cullen up front that is a totally brain dead tactic. I don't mind taking a horses for courses approach, up to a point. However, the irony here is that a horses for courses approach was to keep the ball down and run rings around the opposition. Same story against Derby.

Yes, there's hell of a lot of positive stuff to offset those games, but it does suggest to me that the Sheehan Way may be as dogmatically long ball - at least from the keeper - as Martin was obsessively about passing it out from the back.

There is the problem. It’s the squad not the manager. He inherited that squad which was “assembled” before he was involved. He’s done brilliantly since he came in with the players at his disposal.
