Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Sheffield Wednesday 0 Swansea City 0 | EFL Championship

anyway, should have been able to turn that game in to a win. Wednesday were awful. We were awful. Again, no tempo or direction. Grimes was a liability tonight. Manager, be a fecking manager and make some tough decisions as you are already toast.

Grimes .... aaarrrgghhhh.

If ever there was a game where he should have been subbed it was today. He was proper awful. SW's best chance in the first half, from which they should have scored, was the result of him faffing around and losing possession. The sad thing is, he's never getting subbed. He's never getting benched either. So we're basically stuck.
He's a fantastic player though, we're told several times a season.

The fact he has no set position and roams right across the back line from RB, through CB and over to LB really baffles me. We're constantly a player short in midfield because he's never there, instead he's standing on the toes of a teammate.

Plus, as others have said, he takes so long to make a pass (usually after dribbling 5-10 yards towards the teammate he's going to pass to).

But the most irritating thing for me is his constant lack of urgency to do anything. We get a corner and he walks over, claps the fans, sets the ball, puts his hand in the air, then crosses it straight into the keeper's hands.
That last second free kick we had on the halfway line against either Stoke or Bristol City (all the games tend to merge together these days), he strolled over, looked up at all his teammates loading the box...and mis-hit the ball so it didn't even reach the box and was cleared by the nearest defender.

Fantastic player though

Patronizing.. I am the poster who everyone has a pop at, literally everyone, honestly, in my life you see mate, everyone calls me useless, rubbish, not good enough, doesn't know what he's on about, no skills, no prospects, rejection, rejection, rejection, and I will keep being that patronizing little c*nt everyone thinks I am.. I'm a different breed, if you're not up to standard I will question everything, because it's what people do to me in everyday life, these millionaire second division c*nts are useless, fair play to them though, making millions when they can't play a simple 5 yard pass, I just smirk

Genuinely serious point - take a break from this forum and have a refresh. I don't think it's doing you any good.

But we're not in trouble. We're 13th.

It feels worse, because we're not looking like scoring goals. But we're actually defending quite well and we're competitive in nearly all the games, we're staying in games and giving ourselves a chance of getting something.

If we were losing our shape and conceding goals then I'd be worried. But we're not.

We're a classic mid-table side.
Cardiff - who have had their worst start in how long, are now only two points behind us.
If we can't score, we're going to sink like a stone.
The table says we're 13th, but in reality we're anywhere between there & the bottom.

What has he done to merit that?

Being able to control and lay off a pass is the bare minimum at this level, bare minimum. He's an international ffs.

His positioning is dreadful, never near to the ball, can't win a header, can't pass or dribble, looks a stone overweight.

we need to cut our losses on him in January. Kukha and Yates were light years better
You had me up until you said Yates light years better😂 fuck my eyes!

Sell Grimes and Fulton and replace with 2 goal hungry strikers moving Cooper and Cullen to positions they play better for Wales. Ronald , Pederson can be better replaced from under 21s.
