Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea 1 Watford 0 | The EFL Championship

I certainly didn't.

Cabango in particular. At times under the previous managers he looked no better than L1 quality. But he appears to have gone up a notch this term.

Whatever you want to say about this side, there's no doubting the bedrock of it is the back 5. Iffy start from Tymon aside, it's been very consistent this season.
Key didn't look the best at the start of the season either but he had only just come back from injury.
The past couple of games he has been looking back to his best gliding past players.

Vig has to be one of the Championship signings of the season, he has been vastly outperforming the expected goals conceded metric and is the primary reason we have yet to lose any game by more than a single goal.

He had a particularly dodgy second half in one preseason game but that aside he has looked awesome and while I only watched the first half yesterday he was claiming crosses and some of his distribution was superb.

Ronald has two assists in two games now, seems to be coming back into a bit of confidence and form and looked a menace on the left where I always felt was his best side as he likes to come inside onto his right.

Peart-Harris had his best game of the season for us yesterday, put a few dodgy performances behind him and he looked a threat on Saturday and today he came in off the opposite wing and got his reward.

Grimes was playing more as a holding midfielder and not as a 3rd centre half for most of the first half and the difference it makes to our shape is so obvious.

Franco was a beast as usual, for a small player he has insane strength to get other players off the ball. Desperately needs some shooting practice though :)

Really enjoyed the game and a good atmosphere despite the mediocre attendance. Watched this one from the main hospitality box and had a perfect view from above of the game and our living legend Daz.

Did you notice his bald spot?

Franco is our signing of the summer for me, and we’ve been crying out for someone like him for years. Just a shame he’s weak offensively, but if he wasn’t he would be playing at a higher level. By that I mean he has a shot like a 90 year old hanging onto a zimmer frame 😂

Cullen gets a start, I hope he rams those words right down my throat, but he's had over 5,000+ minutes now.. it's about time he turned into a 10+ goals forward with all these chances he's been given because he's one of us
And your verdict on his performance last night?

With Cooper out for 3 months and Eom not likely to be back until just before the Christmas period we are extremely short on options that can play in the 10 role.

Makes the decision not to pursue Milleskog even more glaring.

Really good performance last night, although it did feel quite nervous in the last 5-10 minutes when they had a few corners/long throws. Considering they scored 6 on the weekend, their finishing was dreadful last night!

I thought we could/should have had a penalty in the first half for what looked like a push but it's not included on the extended highlights so I haven't seen it back.

Lucky we don't have VAR in the Championship because Ronald was slightly offside when the ball was crossed to him for the goal.

Overall, a very decent night's work and a much needed win to get 3 more points on the board with Burnley and Leeds up next

If you open in YouTube and then go to their video's, the full game is there.

Short on options, but that may have given Peart-Harris his chance. He was immense last night. Far better than anything Eom, Cooper or Cullen has shown this season. He’s still raw, but he’s skilful and powerful. I’d happily have him starting anywhere across that 3 behind our ‘striker’ (lol).

Didn't score, didn't assist, ran around a lot like he usually does without showing any ability that he can play no10 or score enough to warrant a pay rise.. need better, but we're stuck with him now
Yeah seems about right. Business as usual really.

Signing of the summer has to be the keeper.

Noticed alot more short corners this game he used to do this successfully at Notts didn’t he?
