• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Didn't think it was possible to dislike people who arnt here anymore, but Russell and his fckn useless bald cretin of a mate . To think the crap we played under them.
We are now playing with more purpose, bit more direct and defending properly.
Not hard is it you 2 fckn dicks.
Great to see the crowd enjoying it again, not a wiff of maybe doing the scum a favour, and why not, it's lovely to see us getting stuck in and winning.
Still room for improvement, 3/4 players with Modric' endorsement and we'll be up there.

I wanted to win, but had we lost it would have been a massive silver lining to put Cardiff more in the crap!

It’s different gravy compared to the turgid crap Russ/Williams served up. We’re not at Brendan/Laudrup levels obviously, but there’s some energy and intent. It’s more exciting, although today was a bit of a grind. It wasn’t quite clicking for us.

I wouldn't even call it 'more direct', it's just we're not twatting about with it at a snails pace in midfield, allowing the opposition plenty of time to get back into shape and get the cigars out.

We are moving the ball much quicker on the deck, and if a pass can be played forwards, we do it. It is not rocket science, but we look all the better for it.

Getting rid of The Gnome in midfield is the best business we've done in years.
Yet, Grimes is popping up in the box and scoring goals at Coventry. I blame the idiots who told him to play that way. And it was a disease spread throughout the team, not just him. They were shit scared to take a risk and lose the ball. Our uptick is definitely down to Sheehan changing the approach to being more direct (we are playing a lot more direct, just not always) and not the departure of one player imo.

Right now we have energy and link up play but its that bit of silky smooth class in the final third we are missing to tie it all together. Basically we are missing a Scott Sinclair or Gylfi Sigurdsson

We have Widell coming in the summer but is it a lot of pressure to put on the shoulders of someone coming into this league for the first time?

Time will tell

The problem is that Grimes became a crutch for both the other players and the coach.

We all know that Grimes can be effective on the front foot, but he always offered that safety blanket when pressure was on and coach after coach always reached for it when things got tough. After a while it became the norm and it began to define him as a Swansea City player

Coaches began to adapt their play to account for him as a defensive midfielder rather than the box to box midfielder that he was when he first signed for the club. In some ways he was a victim of his own versatility that he was the best holding midfield player we had at the club since we got relegated which is a far cry from his preferred way of playing

Coventry have that luxury of allowing him to drive forward more and they are starting to see glimpses of the player we first signed way back when

Becoming more apparent by the week the seasons wasted under those 2 butes.
Pretty sure Sheehan and the players have had meetings to say as much and that more energy and drive is plain to see now.

Some great voice impersonations today by Kevin Johns when announcing the subs etc over the tannoy

Grimes has to be forced out of his comfort zone. For far too long, under too many managers, he wasn't. Potter did it. Duff also to a point. Cooper, Martin and Williams let him get on with it.

Moving on from him has done us good. Might do him good too, but I don't really care.

Exactly the point I made above

Good to see Ronald back to how he was when he first joined us… using his pace and direct running to cause fullbacks all sorts of problems.

Yes, his final delivery still needs a lot of work but he still causes carnage, winning free kick and after free kick.

What's the concensus on the penalty? TV replays serm to show it hit his head and not his arm, but it wasn't really clear.
It is categorically not handball but I have sympathy with the ref, as it looks absolutely nailed on at full speed. Even knowing it wasn't a pen, it still looks like handball on first view

You can see why the ref would give it.

The arm was in an unnatural position, making his body bigger, and it actually does strike him in the face and then arm
