Like 90% of times a team kicks off they lose possession immediately playing a long ball up to the forward or the wingers. Despite having possession the team kicking off has a territorial and positional disadvantage
I’d much rather lose possession going forward and attacking than going backwards negatively

Stoke playing a very high press with two up top but also a high line. A few times Ronald has been only fractionally offside for the ball over the top. Would fancy us to get one of those right if that keeps up

Neither should be doing it
Like it or not its how the vast majority of sides handle the kick off. The truth is that the side in possession lacks an out ball or players in threatening positions so its a percentage game to go for the long ball - if something comes of it great if not then it gives them a chance to get into their proper positions.
