Season 25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Exeter City v Swansea City | Preseason Friendly | St James’ Park Exeter | 1pm (26.07.25)

Sounds to me like how we are year after year, passing for passing sake, which ironically wasn’t the case when Sheehan was in temporary charge.
Maybe just wants them to ease their way into things during these games rather than go out 100%.

I would be hoping that come the Lorient game that things have stepped a bit.

Even allowing for pre-season in Spain then Cheltenham and now today we have hardly created any chances on goal.
Doesn’t matter, preseason is only really all about fitness and the players getting to know each other. Literally as I was typing this we’ve gone a goal down and it doesn’t matter.

I get potential concerns but we only need to be worried if we see this consistently in league games.

Training is intense? Then not carrying it into games?

Can agree but not much has been shown so far game on game of improvement.

Training is a controlled environment with calculated intensity and risk management. Pre season games are a lot more unpredictable it’s not the time to go all out, it’s a leg stretcher to blow all the cobwebs out and get the players used to matchdays again after a break.
