Sell VP For 20M (No Less)

Bit of a pen merchant lately though 🤔
Mostly because we haven't created fuck all for him :D
His goal return compared to the other top scorers who were also typically their teams penalty taker was an anomaly before our recent glut of penalty decisions though

If we have put anything close to £20m as the figure in the release clause it will have been an extremely shrewd piece of work.

If you took out all the penalties, he'd still be the top scorer in the divison. He's had an outstanding season.

Indeed. I only shudder to think of what he could have achieved this season with a team that was consistently creating opportunities for him

Big question. Is Idah capable of filling Vips boots?
Or do we make prioritising a striker ahead of other positions that need strengthening, notably centre back?

I think if VP goes we have to have a striker to compete. Wales might need another loan.

Idah has done well in fits and starts but Vipotnik’s form and his own injuries have not made it easy for him this season. His G/A numbers are actually good for his minutes played.

I’ve said it before but to me he seems much more comfortable on the wing when he’s isolated 1v1 than when he’s in amongst it in the striker position. Has pace and tends to beat his man more often than he doesn’t. I’d like to see him used out wide and a new striker come in. Not sure if it’ll happen though.

I've probably said it before, but for me having Idah means that we can be more ambitious if we need to replace Vipotnik.

By which I mean we could go for a younger player from a lower division or from abroad, who may need time to develop and/or acclimate to the Championship, but can do so with less pressure to perform from day one as we have Idah here already to be first choice.

Have we given up on the outlaw josie wales?

I feel a bit sorry for Idah - he has had minutes recently- and the minute Vip replaces him we get a raft of penalties

Not at all, he's only 20 after all. But he can't get minutes at Huddersfield and has only scored 17 goals in his entire club career, 12 of which were in the Scottish League One. I don't think it would be fair to expect much from him next season, although hopefully he makes an impression in pre-season and proves me wrong.
