Hi.

Some bloke was slagging off the Senedd in the Evening Post on Monday.

Personally, I love the concept of Welsh people making important decisions for the sake of Welsh people and will be happy to defend that idea to the hilt.

As far as I am concerned the Senedd should expand in numbers to a level that will absorb all the necessary work.

Yes. Fully. You don’t get rid of a parliament or other democratic institution because you don’t like the people running it. Thats basic tyranny. You get rid of the people running it.

I think it’s overwhelmingly failed. It’s just a job creation vehicle in the bay. Outcomes are shocking and it’s increased Nationalism.

Intentions were good but it’s been a disaster for Wales. Id not shed one tear if it were to go. But that ship has probably sailed.

In addition to my post it will refreshing to see plaid having a go but we have to remember they’ve been junior partner on a number of occasions and are very similar to Labour. It’s not a big change which is what is required.

Whilst I agree with that, this particular shit sandwich is tastier than the Reform one.

You could, and many do, argue that any legislature has failed. You could make an easy argument that the UK parliament has been failing consistently for centuries with odd patches of success. Even then those successes will depend entirely on all of our subjective opinions and political leanings. I won’t argue that it’s unhealthy for the same party to hold power for so long. I’d be more than happy with a change in May (well as long as it’s the non-Reform kind of change). But as I said, you don’t abolish a legislature because you don’t like who’s elected to run it, you change who’s elected to run it. I maintain (and this is not aimed at you) that many of the most vocal opponents of devolution would have an entirely opposite view had their favoured party constantly been elected to form the government since devolution began.

Maybe. I’m self aware enough to recognise I might be being unfair and it’s a case of time that’s required.

But it really needs to start improving not a bit but dramatically. There isn’t a proper revising chamber which for all its faults the Lords does have the expertise and experience to amend bad legislation.

I’m also yes tired of the one party state it will definitely prove healthy for Welsh democracy to have a change.

Look who knows maybe things will improve with the extension and change of Government.

All I want is the best for the Country. I just don’t care how it’s done. That’s why I wouldn’t care if we fully signed up the eu, Schengen etc. Borders are not something that I’m bothered about.

Where I am clear is that decisions should be made at a local level so if I could turn back the clock that would be my focus rather than National Parliaments.

My memory isn't great plus I was young back then, but I'm sure that the WDA were better for Wales overall, compared to this Senedd lot whose only focus seems to revolve sorely in Cardiff, there's far to much waste as well with them spending millions on foreign projects, like planting trees and opening offices in far off Countries, money that is desperately needed here in Wales and that needs to stop.

And that's what the Senedd was supposed to have achieved, I'm struggling to see exactly what they have achieved especially outside of Cardiff, the A465 is a master stroke and is superb, but not sure what else they've done, there must be other things of course.
There's been very little inward investment, Drakeford for one has held any investment back for yrs and yrs in fact he's been a disaster for investment into Wales amongst many other things that he's been a disaster for.
