So Burgess and Gailbraith fill the gaps of Darling and O'Brien...Yep.
I would argue only Burgess has been a success so far. Possibly Galbraith as well, although his more recent performances have not been as good as his early ones.
The rest can all be filed under "jury's still out".
I think I’d go with Stamenic and Galbraith together like you say. It would be similar to when we had Grimes and Downes together which I thought worked at the time, one as the controller and one as the destroyer type. Has to be Widell in the 10 for me, he might struggle a bit in some games but he’s shown quality off the bench and last night we looked a lot more creative for the short time he was on.I hope you are right. But I can only judge them on what they are showing right now and as you say the midfielders seem an awkward fit together.
What switch to you want to see? Stamenic and Galbraith together as 6s? Widel ahead of them maybe or Eom.
Well we know that the manager will be hung out to dry before they visit that department and currently that couldn't be argued. There’s also the possibility that our state of the art, best in class recruitment and data apparatus isn’t actually much cop after all and that we’ve bought some duffers.
That’s quite witty for you.and someone else who gives odds on who will win the next set at the Australian Open.
People seem to say they see a big difference in our play, and get quite shirty about different opinions. Personally, from the 9 games I’ve seen this season, that just feels like a desperate wish to see what’s not there. Real Emperors new clothes. I see very little other than a combination of the worst of Duff/Martin/Williams styles. Backwards sideways, no tempo, no pace, no invention, no intent, no conviction when not going backwards allied with the regular periodic hoof. I don’t know what’s causing it, because AS says the right words in many interviews, but it’s crap. It just is.Was it though? For all the changes we still had the same flat midfield three. We still moved the ball with all the tempo of continental drift. Lately Stamenic is demonstrating an almost Grimesian talent for killing momentum stone dead.
The ball isn't getting forward quickly enough so defences are set and whichever poor bastards we play on the wing are having to drop 20-30 yards deeper to see any of the ball.
Had he got more experienced players in training even if not playing?Don't think he's on borrowed time with the owners at the moment. It's pretty evident he needs to find the same formula he had towards the end of last season.

So you dont think the coach has a say in acquisitions?Well we know that the manager will be hung out to dry before they visit that department and currently that couldn't be argued.
I do believe that in time the ownership will start asking questions, you cant be putting the type of money they have put in and witness performances like we are seeing and languishing 16th.
You can't throw the type of money into a club and rely on a guy who left Bristol Rovers under a cloud and someone else who gives odds on who will win the next set at the Australian Open. Their investment needs to be headed by proper and experienced football people.
It's not to say they don't have the potential but guidance and experience would help greatly and benefit us down the line.
He will have a say, if it's the final say then none of us know.So you dont think the coach has a say in acquisitions?
Whilst the data analysts may help with the identification of targets Im sure the coach has some say.
Its just the 21st century version of scouting, where spreadsheets and tablets have replaced the scribblings and notepads of scouts sat in stands throughout the country. Many of those same scouts had never even played league football.
With the availabiity so much video footage its very rarely scouts watch oppisition games aa the coaching and analytical teams can sit and watch these for themselves.
Its also no different from the non footabll folks who sit in the dugout and stands with their laptops and tablets advising Sheehan on who and when to substitute based on data.
From mosr fans purrring over the summers transfer dealings they are now blaming these for our performances and apparent change in style all to divert the blame from a coach who rescued us from Williamsball.
Lets face it the majority of the squad Sheehan used laat season is here....whilst O'Brien and Darling have gone Galbraith and Burgess are adequate replacements. We have lost the experience and abilities of the ageing Allen and Naughton but they were bit part players.
So why cant Sheehan replicate what he achieved last season?
You would be surprised, I'm like the Alan Sheehan in this forum.....working with my handbrake onThat’s quite witty for you.![]()
Don't we all!I reckon they really want much more than what they’re getting.
