I agree that Darling doesn't set the world alight but I would use this opportunity to give him the captaincy and stay at the club. We had a very solid defense earlier this season, he's been the best defender and could be a decent sell on in the future. In my opinion he demonstrates more leadership than anyone else on the field. Cabango & Cullen? No way for me, not an ounce of leadership quality; Cabango flaps badly and Cullen not even a guaranteed starter.
