Staggering Stuff

This is why the virus continues to rage and why lockdowns continue to be necessary. People are dull.

When I see that, I think what is the point in any restrictions at all, I think either do it properly or don't bother at all.

Then you'd get you, Andy and the others on the other site moaning that they have closed down towns or cities, with low or no infections. They can't win.

If people just listened and behaved appropriately, this thing wouldn't be half as bad.

How do you mean then you'd get you? What I mean is if you really want to stop the spread, then these situations should not occur, either lockdown properly or not bother, I'd rather say shut everything, give advance warning to stock up on food, and then nobody move for a few weeks, because I can see what's going to happen here, we will be stuck in this lockdown revolving wheel unless they do it correctly.

It's incredible, if everything was shut down across the whole UK, him and Andy would find something wrong with that.

There'd be tweets from Darran of Plymouth flying about everywhere with them.

If people accepted this virus for what it was, they wouldn't need anyone to tell them to behave themselves, they would do it. End of story really.

Regardless of what people think, and whether they accept the virus or not, my point was, what is the point in locking down certain pieces of social life, and lot's of other things, when you just have to watch the video and you can see it's futile.

Either do it properly, shut everything, and I mean everything or just don't bother.

Because they are trying to balance the health risk against the economic risk.

And this is the system they think will work best.

I'm not an economics sort of person, so who knows if this is the best way to do it.

The selfishness of youth. Bring back national service, way too many feckless twats around these days with no direction in life nor consideration or respect for others. If you're between the age of 16 and 30, you're unemployed and not in training, pick up a rifle and get in the fuckin army.

Trying to balance health against economic risk? Come on, we have had plenty of restrictions imposed upon us throughout the year, quite a few lockdowns, and they have not worked!

It's pretty simple, either go full on nobody moves for a few weeks, or keep on with the current restrictions which are open to abuse, and certainly don't seem to be working.. IMO this is the only way to deal with it.

Lockdowns do work, you just don't understand what they are meant to do.

It's not pretty simple, that's the issue with you, if it was that simple we would be out of it by now.

A large portion of blame lies with people who will not listen.

Lockdowns do work? Yes of course they do! That's how we have had lockdowns throughout 2020, and we still find ourselves in lockdown again, there is no other alternative apart from what I have suggested, or do you want to keep people for the next 6 months to a year, that it is their fault?

I have told you the only option out of this mess, people who adhere or who don't become irrelevant then, the only solution is a proper lockdown, otherwise we will be still going on about lockdowns till god knows when.

N_J is right. Lockdowns work so long as people follow the pretty basic rules that are in them.

Unfortunately there are a very large number of people who believe that those basic rules don't apply to them for a whole host of reasons (most of them completely illogical)

You are clearly advocating here a full lockdown where people are told to not leave the house for 2/3 weeks (or more?) but do you seriously believe those same idiots who go about things as if it is normal in our current lockdowns will do any difference

It won't go away because sadly the people who don't believe it is real won't change their habits.

And now we are back to the opening posts in this thread.
